One of those USB ports should be USB 3.0. Very disappointing that they are both USB 2.0.

it does not matter too much if it is usb 3.0 or version 2 since if u r using a platter style hard drive since u see no improved speed unless u r using a flash based hard drive

well who cares if the router does not have a usb 3.0 as u will not see the benefits in a platter based hard drive only a flash memory based hard drive which it is either a small flash stick drive or a expensive solid state drive put into a enclosure and connected to the usb 3.0 port grow up

What a load of bollocks - USB3 is like double the speed of USB2 and is a world of difference. After having USB3 running I will only buy USB3 from now on and that is with platter HDDs.
Real world write speed jumps from around 25Mbytes/s for USB2 to around 50+Mbytes/s for USB3.
It is more of a matter if the DGND3700 400MHz processor would handle the USB3 not the speed of the USB3.
On all accounts this router has so far got rave reviews. It is going to be a good replacement for my old DG834G.

So far i can't see my storage device AT ALL! I've tried 2 different storage devices and i can't get them to show up on the routers utility page. Can anyone help?

I finally was able to purchase one of these through STAPLES online, which was an excellent service by the way, and was anxious to get it up and running. I must say my first out of the box impression was "very plastic", the finish is very cheap looking but that was not why I bought it so I went on with the set-up. The familiar Netgear set-up screens were fine, it has allot of features that will be useful in the future, it was up and running in no time at all. The 4 port gigabit LAN was first to get a workout and I must say intranet file transfers are smoking fast. Next was the ADSL setup, also easy to get running, I was online as it had no problems with my connection. Speed test maxed out at the rated limit from my ISP, and VPN check went off without a hitch. Ok, that was the good news, now the rest of the story;it will not stay connected for more than 6 hours, random drop-outs,and does not try to reconnect.The adsl settings are correct, good margin on the line but just random drops. The 5ghz channel is a real disappointment, about 27 foot usable range, thru two wood and drywall rooms is the max.I hope that all of this is just "new release" issues and will be fixed with a firmware update, which it kindly checks for occasionally, of course it has to be connected. All that aside, the real embarrassment is the design of the housing. The front panel icons are unreadable in any light, and the led's are set to "blind you" levels, very annoying.The case is a disaster, first very cheap looking and the worst stand I have ever seen. It will not stay perpendicular to any flat surface;over about two week times its listing to about 70 degrees.My wife was so unhappy that it has been banned from the room. Well for now I have set it aside and reinstalled the old DG834G that went almost one complete year without a drop-out. Come on Netgear get your act together, a premium product should look and work premium!

Yes, i was also needing a new modem router from the dg834g, which had no issues ever. I too was very disappointed with the plastic style, but it's just something to get connected afterall. Or so I thought!! There are now teethmarks in the shelf which holds the 3700 netgear, through sheer stress caused coz of constant drop outs. Have to reboot the modem every 3 hours or so. Hope I can get to complete this review before it drops AGAIN!!!
Oh, and it takes ages to turn the Buttons on and off at the top of the thing. There should be a light turning on and off at the side of the wi fi button?!?!? Not on mine there ain't, faulty I suppose!?!? Do you have to hold the button for so long to work? I don't know sometimes does, sometimes doesn't. I am definitely going to send this back to amazon coz I have tried my best and hate to admit, especially to my wife that I was wrong in buying something. But I cannot hide from her that it was a bad buy coz she also uses the Internet with no probz on the old router modem, but now she cannot keep connected also! Stay clear of this one until they sort out their problems!!!

It doesn't work. I set it all up, all the green lights come on but the isp connection doesnt come on and the web red light stays on. I am using an ADSL line and my 5 year old Netgear DG834PN works a treat. I copied over all the settings to the DGND3700 and it still will not work. I have replaced the 3700 and new one does not work. Netgrear help desk suggested I try a different model?

Update...I was told that my router may be too good for the phone line so have gone for a DGN3500...fingers crossed!

Is this device still that bar, or have they worked out the kinks? Any open firmware support at all?
