After Seven Long Years, 802.11n Standard Is Finalized

Consumer devices, such as many NETGEAR routers, have borne the "Wireless-N" badge for quite some time. The 802.11n standard was always expected to be taken out of draft status at some point, and it has just been announced that the IEEE has officially finalized it.
802.11n, which has been around since 2006, enhances data transfer speed and range. The final standard is expected to be published next month.
