I successfully loaded the dd-wrt v24 sp1 mini build (08/2008) from this site and had it working for a few minutes, but when I tried to upgrade to this one, I got a brick.  Steady power and check light.  Bummer.

Sorry to hear this. The problem is that I didn't make this site's sp1 builds, and of course they don't work as they should - at least they don't allow upgrade.

Always use special WGR614v8-L files from my downmoads at dd-wrt site.

Please try to tftp .chk file at boot.

Thanks Eko. I "assumed" files on this site should all be compatible. Will definitely use yours next time around.

I tried doing a tftp of the stock netgear firmware .chk but only got timeouts. Maybe I was doing it wrong and I should try again The router does not have the flashing power light that I've read would indicate that it is waiting for firmware upload. It won't respond to pings (one does comes back every once in a while) although I see the light for the switch port I'm plugged into blinking in response to traffic...

I tried again to tftp the stock netgear image at boot time. No go. So I got a replacement WGR614L. This time I only used your builds, the 11100 series, from the dd-wrt site. First mini.chk, then std-nokaid.bin. Working great. Thanks Eko.

P.S. I believe there should be a large warning on this page that this .bin cannot be used to upgrade from the august v24 sp1 mini on this site. Hopefully people thinking of upgrading will read this thread before trying to do the same thing I did...
