You're lucky, my wireless speed is in the toilet. Sometimes it times out because it is so slow. My wired connections work great though.

From what I read around the internet, I think it has something to do with DD-WRT using an old driver or something to run the broadcom wireless features. Not sure if that is the case or not though.

All I know is I am desperately trying to switch to Tomato, but after installing this my router won't boot with any firmware other than DD-WRT or the Default Netgear which is odd. grrr

Hi, I am for one happy that this build flashes flawlessly without bricking the router.

I have updated my firmware many times since my first post and I am currently using this build "Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/30/09) vpn-small".
Works fine and smooth :)
And the Wireless connection/speed/stability is fine too.

What kind of build is that? EKO? Where did you take it from?

Yes, I understand, although I would certainly feel more comfortable with a tested stable release. Even though I am a long time Debian Unstable user. If something goes wrong with Debian I always fix it from the console, but  if the router is messed up, there is no console unless you start  soldering...

But how did you go about regarding the 30-30-30 reset recommendation? What version is your box? NA, WW, EU? I assume that I have a WW box, as there was World Wide original firmware on it. And there were these report that doing a hard reset from them might brick the router in a way which can be fixed only from the serial console..

I don't understand this "the 30-30-30 reset recommendation"

See the instructions at the DD-WRT wiki. They insist that you must

DO A HARD RESET *BEFORE AND AFTER* YOU FLASH FIRMWARE. This does not mean hitting the reset button and saying you are done. This means doing the 30-30-30 reset. To do a 30-30-30 reset you must push the reset button with your router powered on. Hold it for 30 seconds with the router powered on. STILL holding it, pull the power cord for 30 seconds. Still holding it, plug the router back in. You will have held the button for a full 90 seconds without releasing it.
, see http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=51486

At the same time there are warnings, that doing such a hard reset from within dd-wrt might actually ruin your router, see

http://www.myopenrouter.com/forum/thread/10807/Factory-Reset-breaks-mounting-...

Therefore I am quite uncertain what to do and what is less risky.
