would it be possible to have a "bare" build, without Samba and DLNA, but with all the optimizations you made?
I would prefer to have more space for jffs and install everything I need (such as Samba) separately on a usb mounted /opt drive.

The advantage of having samba and minidlna included in the FW is that:
-will start even if the external storage is doing a long fsck
-you just just plugin your music, video drives without having installing samba/minidlna on the external drive, or having a dedicated install drive in addition
But I'll soon provide different images that require less space.

Never mind that... I needed to have enough space in the built-in jffs partition to install swap-utils and e2fsprogs comfortably.
I ended up modifying your image and installing the packages directly there :)
Still, I think it would be nice to have a bare image as optimized as possible, and install the extra packages in the external storage (after all, if you don't have an external storage there is no point in having samba and minidlna wasting space on the router).
