I would strongly suggest you to take a look at SamyGo, http://samygo.sourceforge.net/. DNLA just doesn't work!
I've had real sweat with original Samsung firmware playing .mp4 / .mkv over different DNLA but I must say that SamyGO was a life saver... You can, for example, connect to a samba share (in my case, USB attached to WNR3500L), and it will play every file formats your TV's supposed to (not the way more stricter DNLA support). I, however, had to revert back to old TV firmware because Samsung had disabled ability to run programs from USB but that was actually really easy. And if you follow the fully automatic way, you just can't brick your TV.
The thing you're looking for is Samsung Extensions Pack, http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/samygo/index.php?title=SamyGO_Extensions_Pack, (I have it in USB pen drive attached to TV, and all I have to do is go to my TV's content mananager -> USB -> SamyGO and then to Media Play -> Samba Server -> pick any file from the server... Voila!)
