I have a Netgear 3500L. I connected a USB disk (NTFS) to the router and set up a samba file server and transferred a 500 MB file from the router to a laptop. Thereafter I put the USB HD to my server and transferred the file once more.

When the USB HD was connected to the router, the file transfere was 4 minutes 25 seconds. When the USB HD was connected to the server it took only 1 minue 5 seconds.

Shall the transfere from the usb HD connected to the router be so slow? Is there some way to increase the transfere rate?
