Let me try to download using git. However please send me compressed tar.gz file if possible.

June 12, 2012 11:15 AM

Also please send me the tomato firmware that you prepared for WNDR4500. I would like to test that firmware.

Hi,

Look here: http://update.groov.pl/4500/

there you can find 3 tar.gz files:
- tomato-shibby-RT-N.tar.gz - my clean sources (from git). Attention: NAND flash is already added for 3500Lv2

- 4500-works.tar.gz - really big mess :) to make image for WNDR4500 you can use "make v2e" command. Tomato will boot, wireless detected but you are not able to setup wireless via GUI (both radios works when are configured via nvram). We can`t also upgrade tomato via GUI. It will try flash new image to first flash memory (sflash 2MB). We can upgrade image only via tftpd and serial console.

- 4500-wowifi.tar.gz - little less mess. Tomato will boot but wireless ifaces are not detected. Also we can`t upgrade via GUI - tftpd only.

Both last images have already basicaly support of leds, buttons, vlans and model detection.

Best Regards!

FWIW, I've been running your DD-WRT build on my own WNDR4500 since the day you posted it (thank you, thank you!) and I've had fantastic luck with it. Everything seems to work well, with the only exception of the 5GHz radio (wl1). When I enable wl1, the web GUI seems to hang/crash whenever I modify the settings related to that radio, but with wl1 disabled, and wl0 set to Mixed mode, wireless works just fine. =)

Any updates with 5Ghz support?                                                                                           Tried your firmware but cant get PPOE to connect?                                                               Really keen to get this working as stock firmware is no use to me and for now this router remains unused  with old router still in use, eager to unleash this router :(

August 16, 2012 1:25 AM

Are you able to connect using PPPoE with your WNDR4500 loaded with stock firmware ??

August 16, 2012 7:31 PM

Yes, I can connect with stock firmware.

August 20, 2012 5:50 PM

Hi all,

Just to give you some feedback from my ineptitude.
I reflashed this firmware back onto my router.
I carefully went through setting it up again.
At each stage i saved it then applied the settings.
This time it all connects fine.
way to many settings for me to understand but i have DD-WRT running i am so far very happy. I can now actually use this router for what i want it to do.
So for anyone having trouble connecting, check your settings, save them then apply. I hope this helps?

August 21, 2012 12:51 AM

Yes it is always ethical to first "save" then "apply settings". Anyway it is nice hear that things are working at your end.

August 30, 2012 2:20 PM

Have you had any luck getting the 5GHz radio to work yet?

August 31, 2012 6:52 PM

is pptp client working in this build?

September 4, 2012 11:14 PM

Wan is configurable in pptp mode.

September 5, 2012 5:35 PM

Like you, I think most of us are waiting for a re-release of this firmware were the 5Ghz works.
Hopefully it wont be to long?
Just be glad there is a firmware that runs?

September 5, 2012 6:43 PM

Oh, don't get me wrong, even without the 5GHz radio working, this build is still an incredible improvement over the stock firmware. ;-)

I'd be happy to assist with debugging and/or code modifications if it would help move things along.

hi, is see both wlan interfaces (v0, v1) and i can setup mode n (ghz) but it it look likes both interfaces sending in 2.4ghz band. can anyone confirm that?

September 7, 2012 1:33 PM updated: September 7, 2012 1:36 PM

- edit - sorry double-post

September 7, 2012 3:24 PM

I see both interfaces (wl0 and wl1) myself, but no matter which options I choose (Mixed, N-5GHz, N-2.4Ghz), the wireless radio will not appear to other devices. (I've been using inSSIDer and iStumbler to scan for wireless networks, fwiw)

I am planning to release another version of WNDR4500. Interested testers please send me your email IDs so that I can send you the firmware to test. Once it works fine at your side I will upload it here.
