Go to "Setup"->"Basic Setup"-> "WAN Setup" -> "Connection type" and change it to "PPPoE". Then click "save" next "apply settings".

telnet to your router and execute the command below,
nvram get wan_proto

If your Wan settings is applied properly then the output should be "pppoe".

As per my experience, the WAN status page should show the following 2 message,

"Connection Type: PPPoE"
"Login Status: Disconnected".

Try to connect the service provider cable to your PC directly and see if you are able to connect to the internet or not.

Are you able to connect using PPPoE with your WNDR4500 loaded with stock firmware ??

August 17, 2012 3:55 PM

Yes with the Stock firmware connect fine with pppoe the Problem from the original is the suport not VLAN7/8 tagging and i like more the fitures from ddwrt ;)

Change to a D-Link (Stock) router and all is fine to (no VLAN tagging)
