I'm having trouble installing DD-WRT.  I'm trying to flash a brand new 614L using the netgear router upgrade ui and the .chk file that I downloaded from the myopenrouter site.  I'm getting an error saying "Invalid filename was provided. Please enter again."   I'm pretty sure its the correct filename, but no luck.  Hope someone can help me.  Thanks!

Have a look at the label on the underside of the unit, and check whether your router is a v8 or a v9. It should be a v8. Apparently some v9 units were mistakenly shipped. This thread has more details: http://www.myopenrouter.com/forum/thread/10348/Can-t-upgrade-firmware-is-this...

I've looked at the underside and confirmed that it is indeed a WGR614 v8.

Installing dd-wrt (using the download from this site) from the web gui worked fine for me, so I'm not sure what is going wrong for you. Did you browse to the file, or type in the pathname manually?

I browsed to the file. I get the same error when trying to install Tomato as well

Are you using the europian verions of 614L? The Europian version uses a different bootloader version. Nachi has already released Tomato for the Europian verion of h/w (http://www.myopenrouter.com/download/10413/tomato_wgr614l-lzma/) - you need to try this version.

Good Luck.

I'll give it a try tonight. However, I bought the router from Amazon here in the States, so I assume its the US version.

Tried the European Tomato version but didn't work. I even tried uploading a netgear firmware for the 614 v8 and that didn't work, so something was definitely wrong. I solved all of my problems by using IE to update instead of Firefox. So now, I'm dd-wrt on my router with no problems. Thanks for everyone's help.

Is your power LED and wireless LED lighting up?  Also, is your check LED and internet LED in constant amber color?

I had a similar problem using Firefox. Worked using Internet Explorer.

I had the same problem when going from the WGR614L original firmware to DD-WRT v24-9281 and solved it by using IE (which I got from this thread), but now I've tried to update to Tomato with no luck (neither IE nor FF). I'm going to attempt to upgrade to DD-WRT v24 SP1 sometime today. I hope it works!

BTW: What does WW and NA stand for?

WGR614L and Firefox 3.0 has an upgrade issue. Please use Internet Explorer to Upgrade the firmware Also please do a power on reset after any upgrade.

The only problem is that this isn't really a reasonable solution for people that don't have a current version of IE. IE is a browser that runs on a single platform and not everyone is using that platform.
