Please download DD-WRT v24 sp1 builds for WGR614L NA and WW versions at

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=5990

EDITED 08/19/08:4:01PM:

You MUST do a factory reset at power on (I mean pressing reset pin while powering on) after flashing dd-wrt. Otherwise the results are unpredictable and you could get many errors. Fox already noted that.

Console user/password is root/admin (the dd-wrt default). You will be asked to set web user name and password on first login.

Shocking! It even doesn't brick my euro version!

However, it does not seem to accept root/password or admin/password or any combination of these 3 words as login?

EDIT: Resetting to factory defaults fixed it.

Wow! It works! Even though, I was first a little bit confused. The power LED went off after installation and I thought I bricked it. But everything is fine.

 Many thanks for the work!

Hi,
wanted to try it... finally. But somehow the last DDWRT build I tried some weeks ago bricked my router.
Is there someone in Germany who would like to help me? Perhaps already having the correct serial cable or a hint where I can get it here? Because if I order it at mouser.com they charge 20$ for the cable and 25$ for shipping. Then I could also buy a new router :-(

I need help or someone who flashes the original Netgear firmware via JTAG. Thanks!

Yes there are still some rough corners - and power led/reset is one of them.

Both reset button and power led is shared on same gpio pin 7. We need to put in some more code to make both the power LED and reset button feature working. At present the resetbutton is taking priority over power LED.

hi, thanx for the update.

I just have one question.

I have already installed DD-WRT v24-9281 on my existing Netgear router. Can I update it to the newest version? Is it safe to use .chk file?

I just flashed my wgr614v8 to the latest DD-WRT v24-sp1 which I downloaded from this site. The flash went fine and configured WDS with my airport express as the repeater, but two things I'm concerned about. One, the power LED does not stay on any longer, only goes on when I reset the router by pressing in the reset button on the back of the unit or resetting via dd-wrt menu. Two, the "check" and "internet" LEDs are constantly lit and in amber color instead of green. Is this a known bug with the latest DD-WRT for the WGR614v8 or did I screw up my router, though DD-WRT is working great! Man, what a differnce it made. Increased the range by two bars. I was in the good range, three bars, and now I'm in Excellent range, 5 bars.

This version is tested with Web Upgade and tftp upgrade from either netgear versions. Is there anyone with a serial console who can help by testing the upgrade process from v24-9281 version or the tomato version and report the issues?

If you have serial console you are good

Thanks for noting it down. the LED support is not yet in. check my earlier posts in this thread.

I would also like to add that the "Wifi" LED no longer lights up after flashing the firmware with the current dd-wrt v24 sp-1. Other than the power and wifi led not light up, as well as the "check" and "internet" LED constantly lit in amber instead of green color, the router is functioning great with the dd-wrt firmware. Its been up for about 9 hours now with no problems at all. As I noted earlier, the range as dramatically improved to two bars, from "good" to "excellent" as determined by windows vista home premium wifi manager.

Does this look right? Seems my Tx/Rx have many errors. Does this look normal?

I have downloaded this version and have tested the Wireless Security Mode.

WPA Personal, WPA2 Personal, WPA2 Personal Mixed, WEP all are working fine. For first three, TKIP, AES, TKIP+AES all are working properly. WEP is also working for both 64 bits and 128 bits.

Wireless MAC filter also works properly.
