Here I can find the firmware image only. I cannot find the source code. Also the language is not English, so it would be very difficult for me browse it.

No, I do not WGT624. What file format does WGT624 accept ?
You can use Web UI to upgrade firmware but make sure that you are uploading correct firmware.

Possibly it accepts .chk or .img or .trx file extension. Not only extension, the image may also contain some information in header which is parsed by bootloader. So check the image format of stock firmware and imitate that procedure to your image.
