Hello,

I am using NETGEAR " Wireless - G 54 Open Source Router KWGR614 " but I am facing one problem, could you please help me out.

Wireless router is working fine, I can browse internet but when the I try to open messenger that time the messenger is not signing in"

but when I connect direct to computer without using router through lan wire and try to sign in messenger, the messenger gets sign in.

Sometime after I plug out netgear and plug in netgear wire again, the messenger works for some time but then after some time it create same problem.

Kindly help me out on the same as to what setting I have to do.

Please I am beginner in setting process .. so it would be good if explain in detail on how to do it.

Waiting for your reply

hi adil,
I would suggest u to check a couple of things :
a > How is the internet connection working with wireless router in cases other than the messenger .... If in other cases it works OK then there is no pblm with the router setting ...some crap is happening in messenger ... and if in other cases u also face the same problem then check ur settings ... check for channel , security , key renewal duration etc ....
As u r a novice in settings I would suggest u to go without any wireless security mechanism ...
Do let me know abt ur proceedings in this regard ...

It's possible the messaging program is using certain ports to operate, although I have never heard of this (I've used AIM, Pidgin, iChat, and Adium with the WGR614L and did not need to open ports) but you might want to check.

It's easy to open ports on the WGR614L if you need to.
