Help! I'm a geezer. I've been happy with my Linksys WRT54GS and had to plug it back in, but the WiFi signal isn't the greatest, plus I wanted to upgrade to the N protocol so I purchased a Netgear WNR3500-100NAS.
Of course it doesn't work with my OS (Vista-64). I'm a single proprietor small businessman with a desktop, and a laptop. My wife also uses the LAN for her purposes.
The problem is, I'm not a techie and when I tried to set up the WNR3500, I couldn't use the wizard. Is there a wizard for Vista 64 bit?
When I tried to set it up using the on line wizard, I loaded the IP Address, Subnet, Default, DNS1 and 2 using an old printout from the Linksys modem. I got a message back saying that my IP address had been changed to 10.0.0.1 but could no longer access the internet.
So the Linksys is plugged back in and working till I get some help...
Thanks
Does WNR3500 support Vista-64 ? You can check hardware and software requirement list to run this router successfully. I guess it should not have any problem with Vista-64.
To access internet you need to authenticate with the remote server like DSL server and for that purpose you need to supply proper user-name and password. I think in Linksys you or somebody else configured it. You need to repeat that step in WNR3500 router also.
Well, I tried hooking up my wife's laptop to the old modem and started running the wizard, but it wouldn't work. It stopped when we got to connecting to the modem...
Is there an updated Intstallation wizard that will run on Vista64?
Repeating what I did two years ago installing the Linksys modem is a non starter, I can't remember back that far. I'm 63 and have a hard time remembering what I did yesterday!
Luckily, I can still connect to the internet with the Linksys.
Dear Sir,
as mr.das said about the configuration of DSL connection .check user name and password for DSL Connection. Ask the DSL people or else call any techincal support people near by your area.
If any clarrification mail me grnathan2615@gmail.com

I guess the set up in your home is something like this
Internet Model Linksys Router PC/Laptop
Now your aim is to replace this Linksys one by the Netgear one.
You can note down the configuration of Linksys (specially the WAN set up part) and configure WNR3500-100NAS accordingly. It should work then.
