I ordered my router a while back but it's still out of stock. This might be something easy to find out once I get it...

Is it possible to assign different private lans to different ethernet ports on the router?

I would like to have one lan as trusted and one as untrusted. I still have some devices that are WEP only and want to connect a separate wireless router to one port and give it a specific ip adress pool.

Splitting the wireless network directly in the WNR3500L would be nicer, but I guess that's to much to ask for.

You can split the wireless network if your f/w supports virtual APs ... I dnt know abt others but DD-WRT supports virtual APs ... so you can use it for ur purpose ....

You can assign different private LAN on to different Ethernet ports and to do that you need to configure vlan properly. Also there are some nvram parameters which need to be changed accordingly.
Moreover, change in configuration varies from firmware to firmware. Like configuration mechanism in Tomato, OpenWRT and DD-WRT are different. So you need to use different techniques.

I got the router and started flashing DD-WRT, no problem.

Found a guide on the topic at hand: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/VLAN_Detached_Networks_%28Separate_Netwo...

Still contact between the two LANs after performing all steps.

I can see, after telnetting to the router, that the setting in step 1 isn't implemented. No vlan3 and port 2 is still part of vlan2 (for some odd reason vlan2 == WLAN as default in my firmware)

Tried disabling port 2 using the settings under VLAN without success. Something isn't right.

I have the same problem, either the GUI or Telnet config works...
