A Range Extender is something you put halfway between your wireless access point and wireless trouble spot. Like on the first floor.
But that would only get you a stronger wireless signal down to the basement.
From there you would need a wireless bridge that would be in the basement and you could connect your devices to it wired.
You could look at something like sling link http://www.slingcommunity.com/page/shop but depending on how your house is wired it may or may not work.
Maybe buy it from a place you could return it to if it doesn't.

I hope someone here can help me. I have a 2 story house plus basement. On the top floor I have my cable modem and my wireless router(Belkin N150). My entertainment center is 2 floors down in the basement. I am having trouble consistently connecting to my wireless network in the basement and I would like to have a couple of ethernet ports in the entertainment center to plug in my DISH Network DVR (722VIP) and the ocassional laptop to stream music to my AV devices. So what I am told I need is a range extender/repeater but the ones I have seen do not have any ethernet ports once they are set up to repeat the wireless signal. The reason I joined this forum is that it at least came up with some of the terms when I googled it. BTW, I am not a networking guru so if you have done this the specifics of configuration would also be greatly appreciated.
Anyone?
