In normal scenario HDHomerun should get IP address from the router board automatically. So if you connect your computer to one LAN port and connect HDHomerun to another LAN port of the router board then you can access the HDHomerun from your computer. Please check the cable. Although HDHomerun support auto-crossover but use a crossover cable.
Is the corresponding LED of the router is on ?
Hi, those of you familiar with HDHomerun network TV tuner, it uses upnp to direct udp packets for TV signal transmission around the network. I installed DD-WRT 13309 and everything seems to be running except one problem.
computers on my wireless network cannot detect the HDHomerun at all. However, if I plug in a computer into the ethernet port, it will see the HDHomerun. So something is preventing wireless from accessing upnp of HDHomerun. Anybody know what the problem is?
Thanks!
Yes everything is connected as it should be. I have HDHR>Lan 1 and computer>Lan 2. Computer sees HDHR and everything works. However, when another computer on Wifi tries to access the HDHR, it doesn't see it at all. For some reason, the router is not passing the UPNP of HDHR over wireless. So wired, it works; wireless, it doesn't.
There is no such firewall rule to block wireless traffic only. If wired network works then wireless network should also work. Are you using any wireless security ?
Check following thing
1. Ping from wireless laptop to the router board.
2. Ping from wireless laptop to the computer which is connected to the board via Ethernet cable.
So I reset the router completely and narrowed down the issue to QoS settings in DD-WRT. Whenever I change the Port: to LAN & WLAN, it breaks the HDHR over wireless. Internet over wifi still works but HDHR gets lost. Funny I can still ping the HDHR over wifi, but not actually connect to it and watch TV. So if i switch the port setting back to WAN, HDHR is working again. So what does that Port setting do? Thanks for your help.
This should be related to port setting to WAN and LAN. Moreover WNR3500L uses vlan ports for WAN and LAN. So incorrect configure may lead to unpredictable behavior.
I will look into this in more detail and get back to you. For the time being use it with default port setting.
Thanks. I'm brand new to this DD-WRT business so i'm not familiar with all the settings. Is there a way to add QoS tags to HDHR packets for smooth streaming around the house? I know the QoS settings is really for outbound WAN traffic for VOIP, etc, but what about internal LAN traffic?
If HDHomerun depend on upnp you might want to upgrade to a newer bulid since there was some fixes for upnp in later builds. I an not shure if it will fix your problem.

Great reading before you upgrade: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=51486 Netgear 3500L Tomato beta 22 and 3x Fonera 2100 Gargoyle 1.3.5
Thanks for the link. The problem was with QoS settings. uPnP seems to be working so far. I will probably play around with the later build another time since the 13309 is working for me so far. Don't want to mess with a good thing.
Now your HDHomerun is working in WiFi also with default Port setting.
What do you find in QoS web page in DD-WRT firmware ? Is there any provision to configure QoS for LAN side ? Why do you want to control LAN traffic as far as the bandwidth is concerned ?
I'm not sure how to configure QoS on the Lan side. I'm too new to DD-wrt. Since i'm streaming HDTV over wifi, i would like to prioritize such traffic ahead of other internet traffic. Because I find HD streaming over wifi to be unreliable. So do you know how to do that?
I installed DD-WRT 14896 on a linksys WRT610N v2 and i have exactly the same problem with HDHomerun:
computers on my wireless network cannot detect the HDHomerun at all. However, if I plug in a computer into the ethernet port, it will see the HDHomerun.
How do you solve the problem ?
Thanks in advance,
Yndyana
