There is probably one nvram variable "ftp_enable". If you set it as 0 then vsftpd will be not run during boot time.
Installed latest Tomato firmware in WNR3500L. Did a port scan and found FTP port was open, not just on the local LAN but to the entire Internet. I'd like to keep it local only. Tried to block it using an access restriction rule for the IP address of the router, but didn't work.
Is there a way to turn it off on boot using a script command or at least restrict it to local net?
If I set it and reboot, it gets set back to 1, but adding a script entry "nvram set ftp_enable=0" in the Init tab did the trick.

After setting it, you should commit it so that it should reflect after reboot also. Execute following command to save/commit it permanently.
"nvram commit"
