I recently upgraded from dd-wrt.v24-13972_NEWD-2_K2.6_big to dd-wrt.v24-14311_NEWD-2_K2.6_big.  With this upgrade I have a very odd problem:  the router will selectively stop communicating to certain hosts.

- From my mac laptop 'mist' I can not route, ssh to, or ping the router

- From mist I can ssh to mac mini 'media'

- From media I can ping and ssh to the router

- Once logged into the router I can ping mist, even ssh to it.

I think that once I ssh from router to mist this unblocks the problem and normal operation resumes.  At times I've seen other systems blocked.  I made some other changes around the time of this upgrade - mainly more computers using this as their router - so can't be sure the upgrade is at fault.  Any idea what could be causing this?

If it continues I would like to downgrade to release 13972 which worked better.  Fortunately I stored a configuration backup from just before the upgrade.  Can I upload the old firmware, hard reset, restore the configuration, and be up and running?

Thanks

Tom

13972 was a very solid build, on my WGR614L i had like 62 days of uptime untill i gave it to a friend. 14311 was very buggy to me, i had multiple wireless probs with that build. Also as long as the stored config was done on 13972 then yes you can revert back to 13972 and use the saved configs. IE saved configs can only be used by which build it was backed up on, so if you back it up on 14311 and then revert back to older (even applies to newer builds) you can't use the 14311 backup config on the reverted build.

I revered to version 13972 successfully and the problems have resolved.  I'll wait for the next major release.

Is there somewhere I can download 13972 ?

I picked up a couple 3500L's this weekend and am having a hell of a time getting a stable, working setup with pptp and openvpn using 14311.

Or does anyone have another recommendation?

Managed to find a link right after my post... go figure ;)

But, I would like to hear from anyone running pptp and/or openvpn with the 3500l using DD-WRT. What version do you feel is the best for now?

I've had no issues with 14289 and I'm using one as an OpenVPN endpoint.

Well I decided to roll the dice and gave build 14473 a shot here today. :) Seems to be working nicely so far with a bidirectional routed OpenVPN configuration. Time will tell, but it certainly seems better then 14311 IMO....

you are very correct, 14473 is much better than 14311, only problem now it seems uPNP is broken again after running long periods of time.
