Depends on how much you want to spend and if you are looking to add any of the third party firmware (DD-WRT, Tomato, etc). The WGR614 and the WGR614L are good Wireless-G routers. If you just need a basic router and don't plan on using it for anything else, then the WGR614 will work fine. It is if you plan on doing anything more like trying to bridge several devices together to an existing wireless network. For example, I have two computers and a network printer attached to my WNR3500L running DD-WRT firmware but the WNR3500L is acting a wireless bridge. That is, it's connects these three devices to a an existing wireless network in the place. Most routers do not have these features built in and need a third party firmware installed to do this function. You can install one of these third party firmwares on a WGR614L but you CANNOT on a WGR614. The WGR614L also cost more and is harder to find especially now support for it is being phased out.
It sounds like in your situation, the regular WGR614 will do what you need. I've seen this router around the $40 range. If you can afford to splurge a little bit, you also might want to look into getting a Wireless-N capable router. You can always configure it to run only in G mode for now and when you have all N wireless devices, then you can switch the router setting. It's just a idea to future proof yourself since you need to replace your router anyway. I've seen good wireless N routers starting around the $50-$60 range so it's something to think about.

I have minimal knowledge of computers. My Netgear WGT624 v3 I think just died. At least my wireless is no longer working.
I'm needing to buy a new router asap and am looking at the WGR614L or WGR614. Is that a good choice? And should I go with WGR614L?
Any feedback is appreciated.
