1) I'm sure there is a way to do this with DD-WRT, for sure the mega distribution, but I don't really know.

2) It's not that easy compared to some other routers I've worked with. Netgear only ships a signed firmware with a .chk extension, which is not upgradable through from the front-ends of other open source firmwares. You must erase the open source firmware at the command line, reboot the router, then hope it detects the anomaly and starts its TFTP server so you can upload it from there.

The way to do this is well documented here: http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/16099/How-To-Reflash-Factory-Firmware-on-...

But be careful as if something fails in that process you'll need crack open the case and hook up a serial cable.

3) That won't be easy as you would need to know the pool of IPs assigned to the UK, which changes constantly. You might be able to limit to a few select ISPs, however, but I doubt it can be done reliably in practice (I might be mistaken but that's my gut feeling).

One thing I would not recommend, however, is making a TS visible directly to the internet. It's like putting your wooden front door with a 15$ lock directly on street level in a crime-ridden neighborhood. I suggest you investigate using OpenVPN or some other alternative.

Good luck
