Version:  build 17140

I tried setting up security w/ Samba using the custom config notes found on the following page:

http://tips.desipro.de/2010/09/09/dd-wrt-samba-custom-configuration-kong-mod/

My issue is that my build does not let you specify a user1 and password1 (missing?).  I have the custom config modified for my purposes (below), but actually creating the username and password are likely what is causing my issue.  I cannot login, I can see the share, but i cannot authenticate from WinXP.  In the below config, i entered user samba but have no idea how to create the user and password.

Should I manually telnet in and run smbpasswd?  What is the syntax

USB Hard drive mounted to /opt

File System is FAT32

Custom Config Txt

[global]
server string = Kong
workgroup = Secure
interfaces = br*
bind interfaces only = Yes
map to guest = Bad User
smb passwd file = /var/samba/smbpasswd
private dir = /var/samba
passdb backend = smbpasswd
log file = /var/smbd.log
max log size = 1000
printing = none
load printers = No
usershare allow guests = Yes
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY

[samba]
comment = Boss share
path = /mnt/Secure
read only = No
guest ok = No
valid users = samba
force user = root

Hi Trav build 17140 has a new samba gui now and allows you to setup multiple users + their access, so you actually don't need a custom config, just create shares with their names and then setup users.

Thanks for the quick reply Kong, I'm going to re-flash back to your build in the default state so I can take advantage of the settings you mention, maybe it was my old config saved there when i upgraded, but I didn't see those options.

Thanks for all of the excellent work you do.
