The DGN2200 is a router and a modem right?
The WNDR3800, or the WNR3500L are routers only.
You might be better off getting a DSL modem and then connecting a WNDR3800, or the WNR3500L to it.
Then you can change things on the router without a concern about how the modem works.

I have a DGN2200. There's probably no need to tell people here, of all places, that out of the box, the thing is not very configurable. It's alright - but it's really inadequate for traffic shaping needs.
Can I mod this modem/router so that it shapes traffic similar to Wondershaper - or should I just invest in one of the routers listed above, under 'Products'?
I have found the source code for the DGN2200 firmware. I can compile it, then flash it - but my development and/or hacking skills are not up to the task of modifying that source code very much.
I suppose that there is a reason that I have not found a subforum here for that DGN2200. The real developers and hackers have probably found that it is easier, and more efficient to develop for the WNDR3800, or the WNR3500L.
If someone can point me to a good source for firmware for this router, I'd appreciate it. If not, then I'll probably purchase one of the above routers to work with.
Many thanks!
You are correct, Brandon - the 2200 is both a router and a modem, in one little black box.
I found this during my searches: http://sourceforge.net/apps/wordpress/modfs/
While your post is the "smart" thing to do, I'm giving some thought to trying the modfs thing. This little box is pretty good, as is - if I could just get it to use something like Wondershaper, I'd be happy with it.
And, if I brick the thing, I do have another modem/router to fall back on, from Actiontec. So, if modfs fails, I can always use that Actiontec until I can get a 3800 or 3500 delivered.
Thanks for your answer - I'll post back, to let people know how things went!
