Yepp it's sucks but use EXT3 filesystem then you get + ~30% performance.

what about ext2 vs ext3 performance? I know that ext3 is not recommended for usb sticks (flash drives) because it uses journaling and thus intensive wear.

Hi,

I had severe issues using that "strict allocate = yes" command with Samba 3.5.12, over a USB HDD formated on ext3. Don't know why...
