Retired mainframe project manager/programmer analyst/consultant/application trouble shooter. Total newbie on wireless PC setup. I use exclusively Linux distros. Have an Intel Core 2 Duo desktop with the E4400 chip. Internal ethernet adapter is an ATTANSIC L1 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (rev b0) which is also the Atheros with the same model numbers. Also have an old PS3 IBM Thinkpad that I want to set up so I can use the WiFi at the various coffee shops I go to. My home telephone is also provided by my internet cable provider Time Warner here in NYC.

Like the idea of the Netgear WGR614L router but also want to know what else I need to make it work (adapters, etc) and then how to hook it all up using Linux only.
