How To Use DD-WRT To Create Multiple SSID's on One Router (For Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Other Uses)

<img align="right" hspace="10" src="http://www.myopenrouter.com/imagelib/contentitem/19541/501a4d8d579923f2-724e5a32-1286a6125a4--15731458272072.jpg">Several newer versions of DD-WRT, including many builds that we have available on the community , support the ability to set up virtual SSID's. Having multiple SSID's with various encryption methods solves several problems that you may be having. For example, what if you have a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP game system that does not properly support the newest forms of wireless encryption? What if you want to let others in your home or office use your wireless connection, but don't want to expose your primary password? Setting up separate SSID's can solve this problem, and it's much easier than you might think. Important Note: Having separate SSID's does not necessarily guarantee security in any way. For example, if you have one WEP SSID and one WPA SSID, the one with WEP can be hacked much more easily and allow intruders into your network. You can hide SSID's for added security, but that in no way ensures you won't be intruded upon. Use WEP encryption on any network with appropriate caution. Step 1: Perform a Full Reset You may not like this, but lots of folks on the DD-WRT forums and elsewhere have had problems with doing this on...

NTFS and Netgear RangeMax 3500L (DD-WRT)

To my dissapointment all documentation recommends repartitioning my disk drive to a different filesystem, 90% of the documentation out there expects you to use ext3. I wish to have a practical simple set-up with my RangeMax 3500L and BlackArmor WS-110 2TB disk drive so that I can both connect the USB drive via my router and connect it via eSata directly to my Windows workstation, if I wanted. I used the following package for patching via the Netgear firmware "dd-wrt.v24-14289_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-WNR3500L". My services tab contains hardly any options and I doubt it supports NTFS. Is realizing a practical simple set-up with features of shares in Windows, torrent-client, ftp-server and webserver possible? I do have experience in logging in via SSH/telnet, but I do not want to customize too much myself via telnet/ssh. Such a learning curve is likely to cost me a few days of work.

is attach my 1.5TB hard drive to the available USB port on the router, stream movies to my PS3slim and my computers upstairs which for the moment are Wireless G but will be wireless N soon. My PS3 is hardwired to the gigabit port. The firmware I currently have installed is I have been googling around on what to do next to enable the PS3 Slim so that it can see the hard drive as a media server. I also want write functionality to it so I can rip my movies directly to the drive over the network without having to disconnect it from the router. I see that ushare can do what I am hoping to accomplish but it's requiring some sort of optware package? HUH? Like I said i'm a noob with custom router firmware. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to set this up? I don't know whether or not these files need to be listed on the external hard drive or the router itself. Please if there is a howto guide for this please send me the link. BTW my harddrive is formatted as NTFS and is USB 2.0

Setup Wizard and Windows 7

Long story short; I'm trying to setup my wireless router (WGR614 ver9) at my new apartment. The trouble is that I have a new computer with Windows 7 and the startup wizard won't support it. My questions are as follows: IS there a setup wizard available for Windows 7? How do I set up manually. (I am not very skilled with these sort of things, so the manual instructions PDF I found on the Netgear site wasn't very helpful...) Could I use the setup wizard on a different computer with Windows XP and then hook it back up to my Windows 7 PC? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated, and thatnk you in advance. Hope to see some replies soon! **Also of note, I tried hooking things up, foregoing the setup wizard. The connection that it found was the connection my neighbor used when she was borrowing my router (it had the name she gave the connection and everything). It said I was connected but had no internet access. Just wondering what that is about, I guess.

HOW-TO get addtional flash space on the WGR614 by trimming the code

There could potentially be situations where you might need additional space on the flash to store the developed application. Following instructions help to take a decison on how to get a tiny amount of additional space on the router flash. The instructions have been verified on the following setup: Netgear WGR614v9 router Source code: Netgear WGR614v9-V1.2.6_18.0.17WW Tool chain: hnd-tools-3.2.3 Tools: Telnetenable-0.3 Development system: Fedora 8 kernel 2.6.26 1. Edit .../src/router/busybox/Config.h and comment the following: define BB_CP define BB_PING define BB_FEATURE_FANCY_PING define BB_RMDIR Note: Prior to modifying the indicated files, please check if the services provided by the file are required in your setup. 2. Remove the code between the html tags &lt;script&gt; and &lt;/script&gt; from the following files in the directory .../project/acos/www/html: BKS_keyword.htm BKS_service.htm DNS_ddns.htm FW_forward.htm FW_forward_service.htm FW_pt.htm FW_pt_service.htm FW_schedule.htm FW_remote.htm UPNP_upnp.htm WAN_wan.htm WIZ_sel.htm WLG_wds.htm WLG_wireless1.htm WLG_wireless2.htm WLG_wireless3.htm Note: Prior to modifying the indicated files, please check if the services provided by the trimmed files are required in your setup. 3. Build the router section of the code under ../src/router using the following commands: make clean make make install Trimming of the above web pages and the router.h file yeilds about 80KB of additional flash space on the router. Suggestions...

The instructions have been verified on the following setup: Netgear WGR614v9 router Source code: Netgear WGR614v9-V1.2.6_18.0.17WW Tool chain: hnd-tools-3.2.3 Tools: Telnetenable-0.3 Development system: Fedora 8 kernel 2.6.26 1. Check if vsftpd has been installed on the system, if avaialble, then edit /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf file and ensure the following is visible / set: local_enable=YES write_enable=YES local_umask=022 dirmessage_enable=YES xferlog_enable=YES connect_from_port_20=YES xferlog_file=/var/log/vsftpd.log xferlog_std_format=YES idle_session_timeout=600 data_connection_timeout=120 ftpd_banner=Welcome to shastry FTP service. ls_recurse_enable=YES listen=YES pam_service_name=vsftpd userlist_enable=YES tcp_wrappers=YES 2. Enable vsftpd on the development system using the command: service vsftpd restart 3. Login into the WGR614v9 through telnet and change into directory to /tmp. 4. On the router, execute the following command: /usr/sbin/ftpc -d dev_ip -u username -p userpasswd -f localfile -s sourcefile Note: localfile is on the router, sourcefile is on the development system, username &amp; userpasswd is on the development system used for getting the ftp data, dev_ip is the ip address of the development system. The assumption in here is that the sroucefile is available in the home directory of the username.
