my KWRG614...my curse

hello there, I've bought this router like 1 years ago. At first i decided to test it with the regular firmware and here comes troubles... I always got the same error message in the log [IP Spoofing][Deny access policy matched, dropping packet] i tried everything in the settings to be sure that it comes from the firmware. So i decided to build my own firmware...to be clear i've never succeed to compile one of my own. i've tried to build one using the source of DD-WRT, Open WRT, Tomato, in fact i've tried to put the driver of the two realtek chipset ( rtl8651b and rtl8185L) in the /linux/driver/ folder, then i tried to put the 2 news directory in the Makefile...and compile again and again. well i hope one day someone is going to make a nice firmware for our still loved KWGR614. mail me if something like that append or if you have clues. see you later

Blocking the Internet with NETGEAR Routers

<img align="right" hspace="10" src="http://www.myopenrouter.com/imagelib/contentitem/10148/10148.jpg">After I set up my new KWGR614 open source router, I thought it was time to add in our &quot; No Internet after 9:00 PM&quot; rule for one of the kids. I wanted to see if it was as easy to set up as my old router, and how the KWGR614 would handle it. After looking around a bit, I decided the best way to do this was to block port 80 to the kids' machine after 9:00PM. To surf the web, you need port 80 open on most machines and setups. If that port is closed, you cannot get to the internet. To do this, I went into the router setup and clicked on the 'Block services&quot; tab, then &quot;Add.&quot; I then typed in the address of the kids machine, and used the drop down box to select &quot;web server (T80)&quot; It looked like this. I clicked on &quot;Accept&quot; and was brought back to the &quot;Blocked Services&quot; screen. Once there, I selected &quot;Per Schedule&quot; and then &quot;Apply&quot;. Now, it was saved in the router. Next. I had to set up the schedule on which I would allow the machine to surf the internet. I clicked on the &quot;Schedule&quot; tab and...

KWGR614 Throughput

I decided to perform a performance test from WAN to LAN, and I must say that I'm very impressed of the upstream capacity. My router performed more than 10 MB/s from WAN to LAN (upstream), but only 700 KB/s from WAN to LAN (downstream). Is that normal, or can I do something about it? My router has firmware V1.0.1_10.17WW preinstalled from the factory.

So, I just got my new WGR614L router. It would save me a lot of time if I can import the settings from my KWGR614 into it. Has anyone tried this? Is it possible?

2.6 on the KWGR614

So I bought this router (and just a few weeks before it got EOL'd!) with the assumption that it would do the job I wanted (route packets) and if it didn't I could easily hack it. Unfortunately it didn't really do the job of routing packets that well at all (the DNS hijacking &quot;feature&quot; constantly kept locking up the router every few hours). I was pretty disappointed that the supplied Netgear kernel version was (a) so old (b) full of binary blobs (c) a large legacy tree with no clean &quot;patches&quot; and decided that I would give a go and port 2.6.x to the KWGR614. My first version of the patch is here and you should be able to build a kernel image (see build.sh, you need the Realtek SDK installed) that boots and gives a working console (you need a suitable TTL to RS232 cable as mentioned in the router instructions). There's no MTD support yet so you need to build in an initramfs into the kernel image w/busybox. The (more) major problem with the above patch is that the network controller isn't supported yet. The source code for the network controller in the Netgear-shipped 2.4.x kernel is obsfucated...

The KWGR614 has reached the end of its product life. We will continue to have content available on the site. It will be succeeded by a new open source wireless router by NETGEAR, the WGR614L, which is extensively customizable and supports a whole array of third party firmwares.

Hi I have tried to compile the source code from Netgear but with no luck. Do I need to have some special tools to compile it? I have installed Bison and Flex because I got some errors about these two tools were missing. I'm using SUSE 10.3 and I have used the instructions in the source code manual from Netgear.
