Hello openrouter-team! Last Week i purchase a WGR614L, yesterday i had tried to upgrading my router with the tomato firmware. The Problem is while the upload, my browser shows me a error "network failed" Now the powerlight of my router is blinking the checklight is orange a green 4 and nothing else. I´d tried to connect with 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.com/net. I tried "Switch Firmwares on the NETGEAR WGR614L Without A Serial Cable" but i can´t enable ssh, http://192.168.1.1/Services.asp is also unreachable. Reseting with this screwdriver-button on the back makes nothing better. Is my router ready for the trash? I hope not! Please, can anybody help me?

DIR-300 stuck halfway through firware upgrade

Hi guys, Tried configuring DIR-300 but for some strange reason, I was not able to connect to it using the wired ethernet port. So got to its web config utility @ 192.168.0.1 only after connecting to it wireless. Tried configuring the router with ADSL modem to set up home LAN with internet facility but was not entirely successful. In the mean time, did a quick search on net and thought to upgrade the firmware and did the huge mistake. http://www.oswave.com/mediawiki/index.php/Guide_upgrade_DIR-300 Since there was no access to web config utility by wired interface, I chose to use the wireless interface to perform part one (DIR-300_to_OSWave_Intermediary_Firmware.bin) of the firmware upgrade state in the above link and it did perform accordingly. However, post that upgrade there was no wireless signal and since i was not able to connect to the router with wired interface, I am not able to do anything more. Current status: I can connect devices on LAN port and get it DHCPed by the incoming WAN from ADSL modem. But no wireless and there is no way i can get to web config page. Is there any way i can connect to my router config utility using wired interface? Thanks...

Ok, so I installed the most recent DD-WRT release and had everything working, or so I thought. I eventually realized that port forwarding was no working properly. I wanted to reset the router and try to configure it again. After resetting it I seem to have lost it completely. I have tried every combination of holding the reset and powering on and off. At one point while trying to ping the router at 192.168.1.1 I got 2 packets through. Not sure how those 2 got through but I have not been able to get anything through since. I can't get a TFTP connection either of course. Is there anything I can do short of soldering a serial cable? This really is frustrating

Has anyone gotten an image to tftp to this router over an IP connection (i.e. WITHOUT using a serial console cable)??? All of the instructions I've found here require the serial cable. I'm trying to flash over an ethernet connection - I can ping the router, I'm even sniffing traffic and can see the TFTP read requests coming from the router to my PC, but I can't get the router to download the image from my PC. I've tried the command line TFTP in windows: tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT wgr614v8_1_1_11_6_0_36_na.chk when i do this, i see the tftp write message go to the router in my packet sniffer, but no connection ensues. I'm running the TFTP put just after I see the TFTP read from the router. Router's LAN IP is 192.168.1.1 PC's LAN IP is 192.168.1.2 both are plugged into a hub so my windows NIC doesn't go to sleep when I power cycle the router. I see no reason for this not to work - anyone else see any issues with what I'm doing? Please help!

Can I use my serial port on my laptop to debrick my router?

So, I have bricked my router with the newest DD-WRT firmware posted on this site. Maybe I was in bad luck (because I flashed it successfully with tomato and MRO several times before.) The POWER LED of the router does not blink at all so I don't think that I can debrick it with TFTP. The router has solid POWER and CHECK lights solid and whichever port I connect my LAN cable to solid. I wonder if I could use my serial port on my laptop which is a Dell D610 to connect the JTAG or the USB to serial 3.3Volts cable is strictly needed, because I will have to order it and wait for weeks to begin using my router which is a little bit silly. Thanks.

I just upgraded my wgr614v8 with the tomato firmware posted from this website. I believe it is the version 1.11. I was able to flash the firmware sucessfully and setup to connect via pppoe att dsl. The router was able to connect to the dsl modem and got an IP the ISP, but I'm unable to connect to the internet. DHCP and Wirless are enabled in the wgr614. When I'm in the administration page and try to change the password it will give me this "http_wanport" is invalid error. I figure this could also be the cause why I'm unable to get internet. My laptop is being assigned a correct ip, 192.168.1.112 from the wgr614. I also did a factory restore from the tomato menu. How can I fix this??

I updated a brand new 614L (614 v8) to DD-WRT. I started changing some settings on the basic setup and now I cannot access the web admin. Just prior to this I had changed the DHCP ranges and size, etc. to lock down the router a bit. My network settings report that I am getting an IP address from the router (192.168.1.10) and that the router (gateway) is 192.168.1.1. But I still am not able to connect using the web admin. Is this bricked? I have a hard time believing that it is bricked after a successful update of the firmware and minor tinkering with DHCP. Anyone seen anything like this?

Hi, Well I have managed to sucessfully brick my WGR614L (European Version). When I say bricked, I mean really bricked! At power on I get a constant Power and Self-Test lights! (So no TFTP recovery for me). I am assuming I am in for some bit banging over the JTAG at this point. Does anyone have any pointers to the pin out, and preferably the correct image to upload? I would also like to work out where I went wrong! I downloaded the source code for the Independent Firmware Build (4.139.6.2) and the tool chan (for the v8) from netgears main site. After a little fiddling (paths broken etc) I managed to get it to build. I then followed the instructions in Nachi's blog about Firmware Image Creation (given that I have seen that the european version required the lzw images). I am in the process of adding sorting out the console - not that I expect to see anything! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! D.

Cable Broadband Set-up using ntl.home 120 modem with the KWGR614 router. FW version (V1.0.1_10.17WW) - Windows Vista SP1 I have one PC wired and another wireless. Constantly, ever since set-up, been experiencing disconnections on both PCs. They only way I can regain connection is to either disconnect the KWGR614 and/or the modem. This everyday occurrence is getting annoying. There is no pattern to these disconnections, they can be when we''re surfing (both PCs), downloading (both PCs), chatting on MSN (both PCs) or even when left idle (both PCs) at anytime during the day. When I disconnect the KWGR614 and run one PC wired direct to the NTL modem for several days I experience a complete stable connection. Please help.

Bricked 2 WGR614L(v8) routers. What is going on?

Ok I bought 2 WGR614Ls with the intention of using them to network my 360/PS3/Dish Network reciever with my DSL modem. I flash both with the version of DD-WRT that I got from here. So far so good, firmware up and running and everything seems fine aside from the removal of the "keep alive" functionality in the PPPoE "connect on demand" in v24 of dd-wrt. I work around that and get one router up and running with the DSL modem. I operate my network on the IP range 10.1.1.XXX. My DSL modem was 10.1.1.1 with DHCP enabled. The host router was 10.1.1.2 with DHCP disabled. Then I begin to set up the 2nd router in client bridge mode. I start by changing its IP to 10.1.1.3 subnet of 255.255.255.0 and gateway and DNS of 10.1.1.2 and hit save. I then disable DHCP and save. I then change my computers IP to a static IP of 10.1.1.100 with a gateway of 10.1.1.3 save and reset the router to make sure the changes took effect. The process bricked the router. I get nothing on 10.1.1.3 and nothing on 192.168.1.1 which are the only two IP addresses it should have. I've tried multiple...

I installed the WRT image from this web site, I had to do the reset to login but all in all it went well. The only thing that look soff to me is the test light (check mark) being lit up with an amber light as well as the wireless light being amber too. The wireless works I just don't recall the light being amber. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case with the default firmware, is this safe to ignore ... Thanks, Marc Mondragon

Hi, I purchased _two_ WGR614v8/L today and I wanted to flash the latest Tomato firmware to them. I did it as described: opened the GUI, went to Upgrade Firmware, selected .chk-File and upgraded the router. After the Test LED stops to blink the router seems to restart and then a couple of seconds later the green power LED starts to blink. The only thing I can do after this point is pinging the router (192.168.1.1) and "downgrading" to original firmware via TFTP. A reset (hold the pin 20 seconds) does not seem to work either. The same s*** happens with the other router. Could it be my fault? Any ideas? Both serials start with 1W61867... Thanks in advance!

WGR614L and uPnP for .Mac/Back to my Mac setup?

Recently, I've been struggling with uPnP on my home setup. Currently, I have DD-WRT installed on my router, with uPnP enabled. I am attempting to use Back to my Mac, a service provided by Apple in their .Mac service, which uses a complicated system of verification to communicate between computers with your .Mac login. Apple states that it should work with routers that have uPnP enabled. I have a MacBook and a Mac mini, both Intel. I've read a lot about it on the web, and have found that some folks have had luck with opening ports on their router. (BTMM requires TCP port 443 and UDP port 4500 to be open). However... if you're opening ports, I don't think you're taking advantage of what BTMM is supposed to do. You shouldn't *need* to expose those ports on your router to solve the issue, if it's working - I thought uPnP just happened. (It is not adjustable in the DD-WRT firmware; it states that uPnP allows applications to set automatically.) I tried this anyway, along with disabling the firewalls on both computers, using internal and external IP's, opening the ports in both the port range forwarding and single port forwarding...

Hi there, I'm getting really annoyed with the KWGR614. I can't access any of its settings. When I browse to its IP, I get two options: 1. Walkthrough 2. Advanced So I click advanced, then next, but nothing happens. I've tried this in konquerer and firefox. I thought, ok maybe its a brower problem. So,i tried it on a windows PC in firefox and ie, same problem! argh! unfortunately everything i go to on the router redirects to this setup wizard. I've tried reseting it, power cycling it etc. I've even tried running the setup from the windows pc, but it gets to the same point and problem. has anyone else encountered this? or, does anyone know if its possible to flash it with a firmware that actually works? thanks a billion for any help.
