I want to upgrade our Wireless-G USB Network Adapter to a Wireless-N USB Network Adapter. I currently use a Wireless-G Broadband Router and this new adapter will be used for our Quad-Core Gaming Desktop Computer to access the internet and to upload HD Music Videos. Would the new adapter work with our broadband router? I want an honest opinion before I purchase it, so I can make a wise decision. Thanks.

PC Brand/model no.: Asus PRO79I Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Error Message or Problem: The router detects my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3Tb as 746.51 GB. If I try to access the USB drive throught ReadyShare, the disk is displayed as empty. DLNA is also empty. I've tried the ReadyShare with some other 8 and 16Gb USB drives and they worked perfectly. At the same time, as I can see under http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11280 the Seagate 2TB Free Agent GoFlex Desk 3.5inch (same model as mine but with 3Tb HDD instead of 2Tb IS supported. Does anyone knows why? Any *tech* explanation on this particular issue? I've actually bought this router only because of ReadyShare functionality and after I've seen the compability test. The HDD is formatted as NTFS, detects perfectly on Win XP, Win Vista, Win 7.

i was hoping for some technical advise on a idea for the Netgear WGR614v9 Routers there's 2 types of version.9 the normal Netgear v9 firmware and a VirginMedia Netgear v9 Firmware the virginmedia edition fail's to take the normal netgear firmware, so there's guides on the web how to Telnet and Change BurnBoardID, thus allowing to load the normal netgear firmware via the web interface. so i was wandering, instead of telnet and following a guide and changing board-id that some people have problems with would it be possible to Hex Edit the board id in the original netgear firmware from U12H094T00_NETGEAR to U12H094T85_NETGEAR to hopefully trick the router ito thinking its a virgin fimware thus allowing the upgrade 2 pics showing hex edit , stock netgear firmware boardID hex edit to this Virgin media BoardID VIRGIN MEDIA FIRMWARE INFO Release version : Netgear Wireless Router WGR614v9 U12H09400/V1.0.11/1.0.1VGUK Firmware Version V1.0.11_1.0.1VGUK HEX DUMP from virgin firmware found board-id U12H094T85_NETGEAR. board_id=U12H094T85_NETGEAR.wla ------------------------------------ And the NETGEAR FIRMWARE INFO Board-id U12H094T00_NETGEAR Firmware Version V1.2.30_41.0.44 ------------------------------------ i hope you can understand what i mean, and do you think this is possible, i thought id better ask some people who know more about this before...

Monitoring/Displaying Router Traffic to linked devices

Hi there Not sure if this is the right place, so apologies if there's a better one, anyway here goes: I've just recently got a WNR3500L and just put DD-WRT onto it, and its got lots of interedting and useful-looking features but it seems to be lacking the one of the things I wanted most of all - monitoring/displaying of traffic through the router to linked devices. What I would really like is a visual way to see, separately and as an overall total, how much is donwloaded by each attached device (2 x wireless laptops and one cabled PC), over one hour intervals (and keep a record). If you know the Networx program ( http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/) then thats exactly what I want - but showing all the different linked devices. So my basic quesiton is if there's any version of DD-WRT etc that has this as an inlcuded utility? Or if not, is there any existing freeware out there that would work with the WNR3500L and perform this function?? (had a bit of a google around but couldn't see anything obvious). Many thanks in advance, MJK
[Read more]

Configuration to create more users with permission to folders on DGND3300 ???

Hello ! I´m brazilian ! Excuse my english, but... I bought a DGND3300 with intent to share folders between users on my network and save the space a adsl modem and an 8-port switch covers, I also thought that the device had the capability to put a powered USB hub and put a usb printer and an external usb hd, only when I received the goods, came the problems: 1) He has no access permission setting for folder by folder (even has configuration restriction but only for one user (admin), I click on the list and only appears that user (admin). 2) He has the ability to print server to a USB printer (I read the manual and did not find the resource). So I'm making this post to ask if anyone knows configure BusyBox V1.0 (Linux) that has telnet in it so as to create more users because I have 8 users on the network and must have the folders setup to allow access to one and a also like to know if there is any configuration to share a USB printer on the same port usb DGND3300. Thanks in advance.

Configuration Help

Need some router help. I am in a rented office space, they provide (at cost) one DHCP line in the wall from their DHCP router to each office. How can I put a router in our office to connect the printer and say 3 computers on our local network in our office all access the internet through the IP assigned line they provide us. Say the ip they give us is 10.1.1.126 sbnet 255.255.255.0 can this be my WAN input to my rounter and then setup my own DHCP for my office machines? Can I setup the input to the router as a DHCP source? Do I need DNS addresses? I will reset my router address to like 192.168.1.2 to avoid any conflict with them. Any ideas would be helpful. They want an additional $100.00 a month for each addition line to the office for another computer to access the Internet.. Thanks
[Read more]

NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router with USB WNR3500L I have one external HDD, and 4 USB Sticks, well with a usb-slot-hub may run all on this router's usb slot? This is like an external Home Server, or at least may confg so? either one usb device or many? This may connect to Internet Gateways(that are include DSLMODEM+ROUTER+SWITCH) Like Thomson 585 v7 Internet Gateway?

WNR 3500L with another router in the same subnet not possible?

Hi there! I'm quite new to networking and I don't really want to get too involved with all this technical stuff - I only want this to work but with my lack of technical understanding that's quite hard :( Here's my Problem: I've got an internet router which works just fine. Now, I wanted to add a wireless network to the one I already have. At first, all appeared to work well with the WNR 3500l I bought: I connected the internet port with a LAN port from my other router ét voilá: Internet worked. But now I noticed a problem: I cannot access the other devices on the other network. I think the problem is the following: The normal lan computers have an IP like this one: 192.168.178.22 And the wireless computers AND the WNR3500L have an IP Address like this: 10.0.01 I've tried everything but I cant' seem to get it done to put them all into one subnet. Any help is greatly appreciated! :)
