Ok, please please bear with me. I been fight with my ips and ATT to get my network back up. Background I had DSL. The company I am with, started me out on a ADSL that they set up with my block of ip's. I have 16. 13 that I can use. One lost to Network, Boardcast, and the gateway. On friday, I move from my old little house to my new big house which has IFITL (Integrated Fiber In The Loop Because of this, I can't no longer use my modem. I had to purchase the netgear router because it support PPPoE, no problem, most due. Here where the problem because. I can connect to my ISP and I get my WAN ip, and I can get out, because NAT'ing is turn on, but I can't get in. I can't ping my GATE. No If I turn NAT'ing off I can't get in or out. Problem Let me explain a bit about my network, I hope this helps and doesn't confuse everyone. I will change the ip's for safety reason. But you should be able to follow along. My router is a Linksys, it might be the problem. I...

DIR-300 stuck halfway through firware upgrade

Hi guys, Tried configuring DIR-300 but for some strange reason, I was not able to connect to it using the wired ethernet port. So got to its web config utility @ 192.168.0.1 only after connecting to it wireless. Tried configuring the router with ADSL modem to set up home LAN with internet facility but was not entirely successful. In the mean time, did a quick search on net and thought to upgrade the firmware and did the huge mistake. http://www.oswave.com/mediawiki/index.php/Guide_upgrade_DIR-300 Since there was no access to web config utility by wired interface, I chose to use the wireless interface to perform part one (DIR-300_to_OSWave_Intermediary_Firmware.bin) of the firmware upgrade state in the above link and it did perform accordingly. However, post that upgrade there was no wireless signal and since i was not able to connect to the router with wired interface, I am not able to do anything more. Current status: I can connect devices on LAN port and get it DHCPed by the incoming WAN from ADSL modem. But no wireless and there is no way i can get to web config page. Is there any way i can connect to my router config utility using wired interface? Thanks...

I've been monitoring this site as well as dd-wrt forum and it seems like full support for dd-wrt is at stand still, full support meaning the router is functionally working including the LED lights. No updates on any progress from the dd-wrt forum, http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27947&postdays=0&postord... The last entry was Sept. 4, 2008.

Ok, so I installed the most recent DD-WRT release and had everything working, or so I thought. I eventually realized that port forwarding was no working properly. I wanted to reset the router and try to configure it again. After resetting it I seem to have lost it completely. I have tried every combination of holding the reset and powering on and off. At one point while trying to ping the router at 192.168.1.1 I got 2 packets through. Not sure how those 2 got through but I have not been able to get anything through since. I can't get a TFTP connection either of course. Is there anything I can do short of soldering a serial cable? This really is frustrating

Having installed dd-wrt on a Linksys WRT54Gv8, I wanted to get the same features on my trusty WGR614. Story short, read the instructions, downloaded software and couldn't wait until the next morning to give it a try. I did performed a router upgrade to the latest release from Netgear, found out they added a basic support for QoS settings and wireless repeaters.... but I wanted more. Router is running great, modified the wireless security settings and all the laptops, including a macbook, authenticated as they previously did with the Netgear code. Glad to see the hotspot options, I might give it a try. Thank you, Nachi and Peter.

When I purcahsed the wgr614l i thought that it would be the next wave in routers. I thought there would be alot of people that would jump on the bandwagon of a open source router that actually wanted various open source firmwares on it. It really saddens me that this did not happen. I really thought that the open source community would be all over this with updates, but that never happened. This router should of never come out with such a lag of support. dd-wrt firmware has had 1 update that is complex to update if you already have put dd-wrt on it. tomato latest supported version is a version from november? 07. Openwrt was supposed to come on board and add support, but that never happened. It really saddens me. (specially that i wasted money on 2 bricked routers). I know that im not a linux guru and i dont have a serial cable to bring routers back to life, but you shouldnt have to tfpt routers and have a serial cord just to update the router to a newer firmware. I comment alot of people on there help with this router like nachi and SouvikGhosh for there...

I have been trying to build the WGR14L Source Code on Centos 5 and have been running into a few problems. I have followed the documentation as best as I can tell. The readme files in the toolchain build get a little confusing, but I think I have them straight now. I was going through the steps to build the toolchain and ran the build-tools.sh script. Binutils built ok by xgcc failed at /root/netgear/tools/TOOLSOURCE_2004_03_31/org/tools-src/gnu/gcc/gcc/read-rtl.c: In function ‘read_rtx’: /root/netgear/tools/TOOLSOURCE_2004_03_31/org/tools-src/gnu/gcc/gcc/read-rtl.c:662: error: invalid lvalue in increment gmake[1]: *** [read-rtl.o] Error 1 Googling this led me to discussion about this being a problem compiling GCC with later version of GCC, especially V4. Which is what Centos 5 has, 4.1.2. But I booted up a copy of Fedora Core 8 and it has 4.1.2 also, a slightly earlier version. I have read elsewhere on the forums that Fedora 8 works. So has anyone built on Centos 5 or know how to overcome this error? Interstingly enough, when I continue through the build steps, I can actually build a firmware successfullly. The problem being it won't boot after it is loaded on the router. I get the following error: 802.1Q VLAN Support v1.7 Ben Greear <greearb@candelatech.com>...

Hey all, Does anyone know of any problems coupling a Linksys WRT54GL with the WGR614L? I turned off DHCP on the Netgear router (running latest DD-WRT) and set my gateway to the parenting Linksys. I also set the DNS correctly. The DHCP is enabled on the Linksys to that it can hand out IPs. Sometimes I am unable to see network shares on computers hooked up to the Netgear from a computer hooked up to the Linksys even though they should be on the same subnet now. Perhaps just a sporatic problem or me not waiting long enough for discovery?

Has anyone gotten an image to tftp to this router over an IP connection (i.e. WITHOUT using a serial console cable)??? All of the instructions I've found here require the serial cable. I'm trying to flash over an ethernet connection - I can ping the router, I'm even sniffing traffic and can see the TFTP read requests coming from the router to my PC, but I can't get the router to download the image from my PC. I've tried the command line TFTP in windows: tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT wgr614v8_1_1_11_6_0_36_na.chk when i do this, i see the tftp write message go to the router in my packet sniffer, but no connection ensues. I'm running the TFTP put just after I see the TFTP read from the router. Router's LAN IP is 192.168.1.1 PC's LAN IP is 192.168.1.2 both are plugged into a hub so my windows NIC doesn't go to sleep when I power cycle the router. I see no reason for this not to work - anyone else see any issues with what I'm doing? Please help!

I've been using DDWRT and Tomato for 2 years on my old Linksys. I love the firmwares, so I thought getting a router intended for open source firmwares was the way to go. Unfortunately, my Netgear WGR614L has not been a quality product. It locks up with WRT and with Tomato any time I try to save settings. The settings save, but I have to power cycle the device to get it back up. I'd like to reload the factory firmware and see if it is more reliable. If not, I'm returning it and going back to my old trusty WRT54g. So, where can I get factory firmware for this guy so I can reload it? Thx

So, I have bricked my router with the newest DD-WRT firmware posted on this site. Maybe I was in bad luck (because I flashed it successfully with tomato and MRO several times before.) The POWER LED of the router does not blink at all so I don't think that I can debrick it with TFTP. The router has solid POWER and CHECK lights solid and whichever port I connect my LAN cable to solid. I wonder if I could use my serial port on my laptop which is a Dell D610 to connect the JTAG or the USB to serial 3.3Volts cable is strictly needed, because I will have to order it and wait for weeks to begin using my router which is a little bit silly.
