Using kong mod 23195 (Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/24/13) stdkong ) When seting up a guest network on the router It does not work. The clients when loging in dont recieve a ip address. Its like the multiple dhcp server wont work for the interface. Tested it on an older version of dwrt and worked flawesly when the client switches from one wlan to another its ip address changes inmediately. Can confirm it ? thanks
[Read more]

Would like to run miniDLNA from my e4200 flashed with Kong F/W to access media on a NAS that is attached to the router via CAT5, Router -> 192.168.1.1NAS Driver -> 192.168.1.50Is this even possible? Also I have tried to get miniDLNA running from the NAS with no luck due to problems with DD-WRT and UPnP, so that is not an option. From windows I am able to see all media drives running miniDLNA but when trying to access them from TV's DD-WRT's miniDLNA showes up but miniDLNA on the NAS is not showing up.

for those who wants to deploy Chillispot Hotspot

If you plan to deploy hotspot based on Netgear device such as Yzy-oui-fi.com, Wifigator.com, Worldspot.net,Hotspotsystem.com, You porbably noticed that DD-WRT offer working Chillispot daemon under SVN 15502. Trouble if you plan to deploy remote network is that if ever for some reason your device is reseted, you will lost your setting and the device will deliver a free access through "DD-WRT" default SSID, thus you will lost money. We (Yzy-oui-fi.com) rebuild a dedicated hotspot firmware(DD-WRT based) that will warned you(e-mail or SMS) in case of return to default Factory, and that is able to retrieve the default factory you wished for your device from a Yzy-oui-fi.com server. This is powerfull feature for wireless hotspot small and big busyness. You will not lost anymore time and money with small maintenance operation as you do not need any more to go onsite to restore your settings. This firmware is totaly free of fee (including default setting registration to the server). So here is some more information: http://wiki.yzy-oui-fi.com/dashboard/wiki/index.php/DD-WRT_Firmware_Wisp_E3dition https://www.yzy-oui-fi.com/newhome/device_db.php?searchkey=netgear Note: this kind of client server system is designed for hotspot stuff, if you need it for another kind of busyness or feature, just contact us
[Read more]

miniDLNA problem on Linksys E4200v1

Hi, first of all, I am not shure, if I am posting in a correct forum, but anyway, here goes :) I recently bought a Linksys E4200v1 router and installed dd-wrt kongmod ver. 20575. Everything works really great, no problems with Samba or FTP whatsoever. There is just one problem with the miniDLNA that is begining to hounts me even in my dreams. The external drive is recognised correctly, other USB settings are ok, I think. What is the thing aboat UUID? I can get it via telnet with a "blkid" command, but what is the purpose of it? http://shrani.si/f/1e/4C/4Nwx51F1/snap-2013-03-14-at-23232.png Another thing is, I am not shure, if I am setting the miniDLNA paths the right way. I only entered the paths for music and movies ( for example /tmp/mnt/disc0-part1/MUSIC), but there is only a music folder scaned. If I connect to a media server via my Sony Bravia KDL-32EX727 or with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000, there are only music folders present, without the movie ones. If I remove music folder from settings, then the movie folders are there, so only one at the time works. What am I doing wrong? http://shrani.si/f/3c/rL/3hQDza4I/snap-2013-03-14-at-23241.png Another thing is MNT mount. How...

DD-WRT HD App Now Available for iOS -- Optimized for iPad. What do you think?

Darren Jones ( @venderbase on Twitter) was kind enough to let me try out the updated version of the DD-WRT app he created for iOS devices. This update brings full iPad compatibility, hence the "HD" part, heh. It's especially nice for viewing graphs in full screen... ... and also for having easy, portable access to your router's web interface for advanced settings. I found this more difficult to use in the iPhone version, so if you were waiting to pick this up on those grounds, you should give it a try! It's only $1.99 USD on the App Store , so it's a pretty good deal. Less than the coffee I bought yesterday and I'll get a lot more use out of it! (Edit: I have heard this is a sale price, and regular price is $3.99 -- so take advantage while you have the chance!) Has anyone here tried out/downloaded this or the iPhone version? What do you think of it? Any suggestions for Darren, or things you didn't like?

Kong - r20805 WNDR4000 - WAN port problem

Hi All, I installed the latest /ddwrt/r20805/usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv64k-broadcom.bin on WNDR4000 Wireless is working very nice - 10 MByte/s ... vs 5 MB with the stock but I have a major problem- the WAN connection is getting interupted. Breaks every 5-10 sec I have a DSL modem and the router does PPPOE. In between, I have power line adaptors(the connection between varies 50-90 Mbit) Green light on the WAN port. No issues with the stock - stable connection 8-10 Mbit/s. With Kong's - the internet connection drops for a few seconds(ping no connection), when it works the speed varies from 500 Kb to 10 Mbit (rarely - mostly around 2 Mbit/s). After few tests the connection breaks again and starts slow, then fast, then breaks and so on. The WAN ip stays the same and cannot see the logs to say if the router redials PPPOE or what happens during those connection interuptions. Any ideas?
the default dd-wrt iptables firewall

I registered thinking I was buying Netgear but ended up with different hardware. I thought I'd try joining in anyway. After an hour reading all the warnings in the peacock Broadcom thread I gave the install a go and now I have a 4MB-flash mini std ("Brainslayer") to explore. The settings I'm thinking about at the moment are the firewall. Over the last few years I've spent the odd day learning the syntax of iptables but that, in my experience, is trivial compared to working out what to actually write. My first objective is to stop anyone other than me from reading files from the hard drive of my linux laptop. I have a few services running like ntpd and ssh. I have a root and my login user account. When I try reading up on iptables there's people warning of arcane flag combinations in TCP headers used as probes that I should actively beware of but it's not my field at all. 1. How have any of you with a similar approach dealt with building your firewall? 2. Should I ignore the peacock thread and find a more recent compile than 14929?

kong: would it be possible to add in /tmp/options.pppoe file the line "ipv6" permantly when ipv6 has been enabled? it would help using native ISP ipv6. since dd-wrt rebuilds the file "echo ipv6 >> [..]" helps only first time.after disconnect it´s gone. making the file write-protected didn´t help. i also opened a ticket in dd-wrt trac for this weeks ago . . .but i have less hope they do anything about this. you looks like the only one who do bug fixing and useful enhancements ( fixing SMALL bugs like cifs mount status and so on ). regards, BasCom
[Read more]

Been in the I.T. world for over 20 years, but have been in the DD-WRT world for 2 weeks.....
opkg on kong mod Asus RT-N16 not working

Hello! I am using DD-WRT Kong mod usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv32k build stdkong 01/25/2013. The problem is: I've enabled jffs, mounted a USB hard disk on /opt, did opkg update, but when trying to install something, opkg pretends it does, it downloads the file, but does not install anything. No error message so I could know where to start from. Example: root@DD-WRT:/opt# opkg install mc Installing mc (4.7.5.3-2) to root... Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/brcm47xx/packages//mc_4.7.5.3-2_... br />root@DD-WRT:/opt Trying "opkg download" and then install -o /opt has exactly the same result, nothing gets installed, even if the package gets downloaded correctly. Anybody any idea? I've already had a working optware (nslug2) with the official DD-WRT on the same partition; but after upgrading to Kong mod that optware was hanging the router so I had to remove everything. Is this a compatibility issue of the "Optware the right way" with Kong mod? This did not happen with other DD-WRT versions. I just hoped not to go back to ipkg-opt but if there is no solution I will try that again... Thank you!
