iptables resetted every 60 minutes

Hi, I have WNR3500L router with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/12/10) mega(SVN revision 14929). The "issue" I have is that iptables is resetted every 60 minutes. If I manually add a new rule by sshing to the box and typing the "iptable -A" command, it will be removed after 60minutes. Why ? How is this reset triggered ? Is it possible to disable this "feature" ? In the message file, every hour, I find a bunch of lines of module unload/load + restart of the process_monitor+restart of WLAN daemon. The first line is always "Feb 8 21:01:34 plouf user.info syslog: vpn modules : vpn modules successfully unloaded" # grep "process_monitor successfully started" messages Feb 8 17:01:40 plouf user.info syslog: process_monitor successfully started Feb 8 18:01:36 plouf user.info syslog: process_monitor successfully started Feb 8 19:01:41 plouf user.info syslog: process_monitor successfully started Feb 8 20:01:37 plouf user.info syslog: process_monitor successfully started Feb 8 21:01:34 plouf user.info syslog: process_monitor successfully started I can't find anything in the crontab. Can someone try following the command (syslog must be enabled...): Code: grep "process_monitor successfully started" /var/log/messages And tell me if I'm the only one with this periodic reset or if it's a normal behavior of the system....

hello, I have asus RT N-16 running kingkong 18050 build. I am having trouble installing optware. Which method should i use ipkg or opkg. Ipkg tutorial in ddwrt is obsolete and only supports kernel 2.4 i guess. well i want to install the optware from this feed which is fairly updated http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/ddwrt/cross/stable/ how to proceed ? I tried installing http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/10.03.1-rc6/brcm47xx/packages/libgcc_4.3.3+cs-43.29_brcm47xx.ipk http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/10.03.1-rc6/brcm47xx/packages/uclibcxx_0.2.2-3_brcm47xx.ipk ipkg.conf shows these src whiterussian http://downloads.openwrt.org/whiterussian/packages />src non-free http://downloads.openwrt.org/whiterussian/packages/non-free />src backports http://downloads.openwrt.org/backports/rc5 />dest root /jffs dest mmc /mmc dest smbfs /tmp/smbshare dest ram /tmp I dont have jffs as i have a usb storage. Why it is still whiterussian ? Or opkg will just do fine for me if someone please guide me what to do and how can i install opkg packages since there is no tutorial & i am a novice. I've tried adding ports 3389 and 3390 in my Windows firewall as well as port forwarding these same ports. I've also copied all my old ports from my old Linksys to my Netgear 3700 and had no problems when using the old Linksys.
Linksys E3000, file transfer too slow. 18050 usb-ftp-samba-dlna

Hello all! I have installed this firmware usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv60k-broadcom.bin (v1850) on my Linksys E3000. I have enabled the usb support and samba server, I have plugged an hard disk with 320GB(a sata hard disk in a usb box) self-powered by usb, with ext2 filesystem and automount on /jffs, the samba works but the file transfer is very slow: about 2,5-3 MB/s with ethernet or wireless and often the transfer of large files hangs!(exp of large files: 100MB,700MB,800MB,1.2GB etc..) and the router crashes and I need to reboot the router by unplugging the router power chord. The usb bandwith is 480 Mbit/s = 60MB/s the 5GHz antenna of linksys E3000 with "n" is 300 Mbit/s = 37,5 MB/s the 2,4 GHz antenna with 'n-g mixed' is about 140 Mbit/s = 17,5 MB/s the ethernet is 100/1000 Mbit/s = 12,5MB/s / 125 MB/s but with ethernet or 5GHz "n" or 2,4GHz "g-n mixed" I have about 2,5-3 MB/s is too slow!! If I plug the hard disk with my pc works fine and the bandwidth is very good. Why the samba server of dd-wrt is slow? There is a problem with the hard disk? Thanks for the help!

Hello, I have a asus RT N-16 & installed kong build 18050 successfully. Running good so far but ssh is disabled. Well i am interested in installing several applications like asterisk & transmission. But i have two internet connection & i want to run asterisk server on ISP1 gateway while transmission on the ISP2 gateway. I have configured asus's wan port to connect with ISP1 while I have running ISP2 on 2nd router which is a TPlink running gargoyle. I have setup a VLAN in asus's one port with the ip range of tplink. Now how should i proceed to force my server applications to run on desired WAN gateways.

I decided to set up secure guest access on my WNR3500L router to allow visitors to access the internet with their wifi devices.. I have next to no command line knowledge, so everything had to be done using the internet browser based graphical user interface (GUI). This thread covers what I did to set up secure guest access the WNR3500L with DD-WRT. First, I flashed (installed) the DD-WRT firmware onto my router and set everything up so that my network (both wireless and wired) was working with good wireless security settings. Next was to activate a virtual interface on the router: Log in to the router GUI and go to Wireless>Basic Settings At Virtual Interfaces, click on [Add]. This will open up a section with more options. In the Virtual Interfaces section, enter a Wireless Network Name (e,g., MyGuest). Wireless SSID Broadcast = Enable (so your gest can see your network on their device). AP Isolation = Disable (because I have no idea what it is). Network Configeration = Bridged (because I think I am going to need it later for security). Click on the [Applied Settings] button and wait 1 minute. Now you need a bit of security so...

Hello, I have a Linksys/Cisco E3000 v1 with DD-WRT BS 15962 running on it. I experience lot a wireless issue (low speed, unstable connection on 2.4 Ghz). I tried few build from DD-WRT without success, I would like to use the build : 18050 with driver 5.100.138.9 to stabilize my wireless connection. Could you tell me if I can use directly from original firmware (for example) this release : http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/r18050/usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv60k-broadcom.bin Or like DD-WRT, I need a mini image before upgrading to big image? I did not find any mini image "Kong mod" for e3000. Do I need to upgrade to dd-wrt and then upgrade it with kong mod image? Thanks
[Read more]

SSH Login Help (SOLVED)

I hope this is a simple one to solve. I have a vanila installation of DD-WRT Kong Mod 18010M with only the GUI Username changed to [Myname], GUI Password changed to [Mypassword] and the router's Local IP Address set to 10.88.0.1. I have enabled SSH with password login. I then use putty.exe (on Win XP) to SSH access the router on 10.88.0.1. I am then asked for a login name and password. What login name and password do I use to access my router via SSH?

Privoxy in Kong Mod

Hello! Now, I am using DD- WRT Kong Mod with my WNR3500L since a few days. I switched from Tomato, which is a vera good firmware, too. But I wanted to have some more features in the GUI and a better integration of SAMBA. I saw the Proxy-section in the GUI and read about Privoxy. It really is an interesting theme to be able to do some more specified content filtering. I gave it a try but it did not really work for me. First, I want to know what settings I have to do: There is an example window on the web: http://tips.desipro.de/__oneclick_uploads/2010/10/proxy.png Is the list complete or do I have to add some more information for a standard setup. The configuartion example in the picture means I have to enter proxy server settings for all web browsers. Or I have to enable transparent mode to filter any traffic. Is this correct? The next question: Is there any GUI for Privoxy to do some settings (I am afriad, it is not)? Perhaps, someone knows a good tutorial for Privoxy on a DD-WRT-Device. Thanks!

Second USB HDD with DD-WRT Kong Mod 18010M?

I have a Netgear WNR3500L router with DD-WRT Kong Mod USB/FTP/SAMBA3/OpenVPN/Proxy Build 18010M. I have been able to attach my USB HDD (ext3) to the router (via a powered USB hub) and have access to it. Here is what the GUI Services>USB shows. And this HDD is avaiable on my network. I then turn my router off (using the power button on the rear) and connect a second external USB 80GB ext3 format HDD to the powered USB hub. The router is turned back on (using the power button). I close and then reopen the GUI and find Services>USB displaying: And neither HDD is availalable on my network. Is there a way to mount both HDD's onto my router? I have next to no command line knowledge.
