Dyndns hostname with DD-wrt?

Hello, I've been using dd-wrt for almost a year now but am wondering how to use my dyndns hostname on lan computers? I'm running a web server and would like to be able to access it by using my dyndns hostname rather than the lan IP of my server. My old router did this automatically. I've read something about enabling loopback, not sure whether or not that's what I should be looking for... Thanks in advance for any help -96ethanh
[Read more]

I have been useinf tomato but want to give DD-WRT its due time on my router. My problem is, the kongmod info page says "This build in myopenrouter download section is not for 60K NVRAM Units, E3000/E4200 Build can be found here ." Seeing as my router has 64 mb ram i assume this means my router but now i dont know which version to get? I noticed kingKong mod but its ofr 16mb flash mine is 8. Any direction in what would be proper for my router would help. Oh and mine is a v1.

I'm on Shibby's mod, Big-VPN build 105. I've tried BT-gui also. All the same issues. The issue being, the Transmission Gui does not work. I can't access it externally, and I cannot access it internally. I've tried going from Toastman to Shibby, no gui. I've tried stock firmware to ddwrt prep to shibby, no gui. I've tried ddwrt prep to shibby, no gui. Nothing I do seems to work. Should I just try uninstalling Transmission, then reinstall it? Or does anyone else have any other ideas?

installing shibby/Tomato AIO on WNR3500L v1

Noob question; I downloaded the following Tomato from shibby's site (tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-102-AIO.bin) as it appeared that it would work with my WNR3500L (8mb/64mb). Trouble is it is 9.3mb, so it won't fit in the flash memory. Is there a workaround for this? It's not that I need every added feature in the AIO, but thought I could learn something by experimenting with the full suite of features. Thanks for the help. windmikevt
[Read more]

Hello Comunity ;) yesterday i was verry happy to see that Tomato supports my WNR3500L V2. After i have installed tomato-Netgear-3500Lv2-K26USB-1.28.RT-N5x--101-VPN.chk all working fine. I want to use this Netgear with 3G Huawei Stick and this Device shuld be a ovpn Client. Connection to my ovpn Server is okay from Netgear (ovpn client), but when i want to connect to the Webif from this Netgear Router over OVPN IP the Firewall blocked. Did anyone can tell me what i have to do ? I think i need special Iptables Roules but this is too much for me :( I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advanced.

I just switched over to Kong Mod (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/31/12) stdkong - build 19545M) so that I could use USB printing, which I couldn't get to work on straight DD-WRT. But despite my repeated efforts, I can't get it to work . Here is where I'm at: I have Services>USB set to Core USB Support ENABLED USB Printer Support ENABLED USB Storage Support DISABLED I have a Brother 2140 that has worked before in a networked environment (using a semi-hacked circa 2004 Apple Airport). I am using a Mac and I can telnet into the Netgear no problem, to check various settings etc. To set up the printing, I've used various forms of the below instructions (I also tried IPP and LPD printing): * Open System Preferences * Open Print & Fax * Click the + button below the list of installed printers * Select the toolbar button called ‘IP’ * Set protocol to: HP Jetdirect – Socket * Enter the address of your router followed by : and the port – ie. normally 192.168.1.1: 9100 * Leave ‘Queue’ blank * Set a friendly name for your printer (whatever you like) * And a friendly location (again, up to you)...

Hello every body I want to use my wnr3500L with my printer epson R300 but I want to know if it is easy to install (plug and play) and which is the most simple, DD-WRT or Tomato. I already use a old router with the DD-wrt, but I do not know the Tomato. I do not see any new post for printer so maybe because is working well and easy to install but before to change the firmware, i want to know which one to use. I already brick the first WNR3500L i had, so I do not wan to brick it again ;o))) I install the mini without any problem but when i start to install the Big one it brick :o(( so this time I will not miss again ;o))) I think the first is the mini: http://www.myopenrouter.com/download/29549/DD-WRT-for-NETGEAR-WNR3500L-Mini-CHK/ Than the Kong-MOD: http://www.myopenrouter.com/download/19806/DD-WRT-Kong-Mod-USB-FTP-miniDLNA-Samba3-WNR3500Lv1/ But how do I install the driver for my Printer? is it all ready in the router?
Configuration Advice

I bought my router about a year and a half ago and set it up quickly, after a few months, I moved for work but my family stayed behind. Now that they've moved down here with me, I'm trying to set up my router, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to connect to my static IP through comcast. I connected my computer directly to my modem and ran an ipconfig /all and tried to plug those values into the router, but couldn't get it to connect. I then told it to use my computer's MAC address, but that didn't help. I'm still using the default software, but I was thinking of using a tomato build. Can anyone give me some tips on configuring a static IP compared to a dynamic?

Hi Forum I'm trying to get a secondary wan ip added to my 3500L router which is running kongmod Router Model: Netgear WNR3500 v2/U/L v1 Firmware Version: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/20/12) stdkong - build 19277M i have added this to the startup script: # Save Startup WANIF=`get_wanface` ifconfig $WANIF:2 aaa.bbb.ccc.116 netmask 255.255.255.224 broadcast aaa.bbb.ccc.127 And added this to the firewall script: # Save Firewall # WAN .116 -> LAN .37 iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -d aaa.bbb.ccc.116 -j DNAT --to 192.168.131.37 iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING -s 192.168.131.37 -j SNAT --to aaa.bbb.ccc.116 iptables -I FORWARD -d 192.168.131.37 -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT I never really get access to the webservice running at port aaa.bbb.ccc.116:8080, if i try from the internal ip it work allright. I'm also unsure about the vlan1 or vlan2 it seems like my router uses vlan2 for its wan. the router has a static ip in same public range as aaa.bbb.ccc.118 any help would be great, to get this working.
Thanks for the interesting work here. I just upgraded my tomato/shibby to the latest shibby install. I have WNR3500L first generation. I use a printer that requires the firmware upload on startup. When I upgraded, I had to un-check the jffs disk. When I restarted with the new version I could not find the check box. I did not locate any docs or comments that it was removed but I note that it seems to have been removed on a different version of shibby (for version two). Can someone confirm this? If so, I would expect to see that up front. Thanks. Paul
[Read more]

Web Monitor not working with Toastman's Tomato and WNR 3500L

Hi guys, its been a long time since I posted here last, which is actually a good thing as it means my router runs just great Now I tried to figure out how to get Tomato's Web Monitor working. Unfortunately, it just simply doesnt do anything so far... I am using the WNR3500L as a switch so the WAN port works as a LAN port. Is it possible this is causing the problem? Am I missing out on something here or have overlooked something? Thanks for your help in advance! Cheers, Whooricane
[Read more]

Hi, I manged to setup a working OpenVPN configuration on my WNR3500L (Kong MOD) but everytime the router reboots I have to start the open vpn service manually by executing this command "openvpn --daemon --config /tmp/openvpn/openvpn.conf " Is there a way to do this automatically?
TRIM?

I have a new customer with a fairly old W2K3 box that does nothing more than NAS duty (OK, it's a DC also but that is kinda dumb with 3 workstations and 3 users, so they're going back to a workgroup). The single share only holds about 30 or 40 gigs of data. They also have a WNR3500L with factory firmware. Updating the server will cost them a dang lot of money for nothing but file sharing. I'm considering suggesting that they use the USB port on the router. They could use an SSD for greater speed and longevity than a HDD would provide, since they no longer have the benefit of RAID. Two questions beore I make this recommedation: 1. Does the USB port on the WNR3500L have enough power to run an SSD or should it use external power? 2. Does any available firmware (I use Tomato on mine) support TRIM to keep the SSD up to snuff? TIA
[Read more]
