If you are Spanish or French you probably noticed that it is now impossible to post in your own language. the reason is that DD-WRT.com mods team did not find persone they are confident enough to promote as mod for this section. This is bothering for people that did not speak english. I don't know for spanish but some french members decided to open a independant french section to support people that did not speak english but just french. So i'm going to announce it in french here because i'm sure lot of french people will appreciate. Note: this is not schisme, nor hijacking, just a complement for people that do not speak english.

I have been considering to buy a netbook for basic applications like -web browsing -typing and editing documents -watching movies and listening to music -downloading stuff(download a lot of movies) I am considering Degee I8B11D4 10.2" Netbook something about Degee I8B11D4 10.2" Netbook Model I8B11D4 Operating System Windows2000/XP/Windows7 Processor Intel Atom D425 1.8GHZ Display 10.2'' Wide-screen 1280*600 WXGA Graphic Processor Intel GMA X3150 System Memory DDRII 1G Max Memory Maximun to 2G Memory Slot 1×So-DIMM Hard Drive SATA 160G (250G/320G) Max Storage Maximun to 320G My prime concerns are: -How much of multitasking can it handle? For instance how comfortably can it pull web browsing (with multiple tabs on), editing documents,a download in progress while a movie is running simultaneously? -Would a netbook be able to pull maximum internet speeds? Please help me decide if netbook is a good choice at all
[Read more]

MOD/Teddy_Bear has added code for the WNR3500L using the 2.6 kernel over on the LinksysInfo forum. Still in Beta but has been confirmed to work as a direct upload to the 3500L.

I attended CES 2009 and passed by the Netgear booth. I picked up a document titled "Home Networking Solution Guide" Winter / Spring 2009. On page 12 in the lower half is an entry "Wireless-N Open Source Rounter WNR3500L" additionally noted as "Coming Soon". I did not notice this while at the show and only read this at home afterward so I did not have the opportunity to ask Netgear staff at the show. Is anyone in a position to shed light on this project? thanks David
[Read more]

Hi, I am loogin around for a WLAN controller/switch solution for handling about 400 access points. I tried many switches. Many of them are somehow overloaded with feature I do not need. Well, surfing around I found e.g. openwrt and I asked myself whether there is a similar project wanting to build a kind of opensource WLAN controller/switch? Does anyone know such a project?

DD-WRT WGR614L

Noticed this thread on DD-WRT forum . Wanted to bring in the discussion here. -Nachi DD-WRT supports the bcm5354 based routers, but not sure if it already supports the netgear WGR614L open source router. Can anyone through some ideas here? WGR614L has community around it at http://www.myopenrouter.com and you may be able to get some answers on this there too. Here is what I can find out about WGR614L at here . "A new router platform WGR614L is coming soon and what got me excited is that this new platform is well suited for many excellent community developed firmwares like like OpenWRT, Sveasoft, DD-WRT, Tomato. This Broadcom 5354 SoC based router has 4MB flash and 16MB SDRAM - good enough to run most of these popular firmwares. In fact most of the firmwares that runs on Linksys WRT54GL should be easily (relatively speaking) portable to WGR614L." DD-WRT supports the bcm5354 chipsets - but not sure if the firmware can be run on this rotuer unmodified. The also have a alpha version of Tomato firmware available here . --wrthack
[Read more]
