As I posted earlier, the WGR614L can't be bought in the Netherlands yet and I can't buy it from the internet (Amazon won't let you and there are probably problems with the warrenty and power-supply).

There is, however, an abundance of WGR614v7 routers available. Any possibility of getting these working with opensource firmware?

I've already heard that dd-wrt won't work because it is probably broadcom only, but maybe some other firmware or open-wrt??

Check out this thread http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=15491

Reportedly it does work - but with the disclaimer that this is what I gather from googling and no personal experience.

If you already haven't bought WGR614v7 - it may be a good idea to wait for a couple of months. We will definitely follow this up - but more such requests of making WGR614L available in Europe helps the community to put a stronger request to netgear.

Good luck

I also have the same router. Could you get any open source firmware to work on it?

Nope, I couldn't get anything that might work. But somebody opened it up and it seems to have enough memory to have some hope for the future.

I'm currently just sobbing and waiting ;)
