Based on what we've seen and read, the Centria all-in-one home networking solution from NETGEAR looks quite impressive. We want one! (Keep your eyes open for a community review if we get a chance to test one out.)
Basically, the Centria is a wireless router, backup service, and network media storage device combined into one package. Two flavors are available: the WNDR4700, which comes with no internal storage but is easily upgradeable, and the WNDR4720, which comes with a 2TB hard drive pre-installed.
The Centria has three main functions:
- Automatic Backups: Set your PC's and Macs across the network to back up to the Centria automatically.
- Media Sharing: Use the Centria to stream movies, music and photos as well as provide remotely accessible data storage.
- Wireless Router: The Centria also functions as a wi-fi router, providing high speed, dual band connections and enhanced coverage for larger homes.
Both models of the Centria are available now from Amazon.com!
