Brand new wndr3800

Hello, I'm new to this forum.

Just received a notice from comcast that my existing modem will reach EOL om Dec 2.

Ive been looking around for a replacement modem and wireless router.  I came across at what I believe is a great deal at Staplesfor a brand new wndr3800.

I compared the specs against the wndr3400 and I was sold due to the gigabit connection in the 3800.  The price was also a big factor.

Excited to find a great deal!

Multiple Routers on Same Range

Someone please check my thinking.  I have a customer with 5 useable IP's on his cable connection from Brighthouse.  His netmask is .248.

Right now I have a 3500L Tomato router on ...254 with a gateway of ...249 and a netmask of 255.255.255.248.  I have servers her for www, mail, and other goodies.

I have a nother tomato router on .50 with same gateway and netmask.  My problem is that a user connected to the LAN side of the .50 router can surf the net, but he cannot see any of the websites and such on .54.

Firmware Update for ZIGGO WNR3500v2 Routers

After spending almost a day trying to replace the firmware on a ZIGGO branded WNR3500v2 I'll just let you know my findings in case anyone may need it. It all comes down to one byte in the firmware file.

After enabling telnet and erasing linux, the WN3500v2 was still alive (not bricked):

  • Power LED blinking green
  • ping 192.168.1.1 gets replies
  • Uploading firmware files with tftp works great, taking about 2 or 3 seconds

But: After uploading the firmware nothing happens. I tried:

WNR3500l bricked or what ?

I have a WNR3500l (v1) And decided it was time to upgrade it to tomato.First upgraded it with: dd-wrt.v24-14205_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-WNR3500L.chkThat went well, then upgraded it with: tomato-K26USB-1.28.7503MIPSR2Toastman-RT-Ext That went well too. I could login and change various settings. No problems whasoever. The old ip adress was 10.0.0.1 and the Tomato default was 192.168.1.1. I wanted 10.0.0.1 back for various reasons so i did adjust this in the router. From there on: NOTHING. I lost my internet connection.

sx763 no boot

I have something.

I have done the UART connection. I have done the serial connection. I have loaded through the teraterm the u-boot.asc file. Press any key to interrupt. Then I have done httpd to start httpd at ip: 192.168.0.119. I have loaded through the workstation web browser failsafe UI  then I loaded openwrt....allpart.image. The sx763 rebooted. I have loaded again the u-boot.asc then let it take the image file. I see that the loading is done. Now I took off the uart pins and let it boot. And I have the message:

ROM VER: 1.0.3

Compatibility of WNR3500L with Annex J, Annex A etc

Hello everyone,

i wanted to know, if said router can deal with an Annex J type Internet ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.992.3_Annex_J )

Furthermore: If my ISP will change their service to Annex J, does my router need to adapt on a hardware basis, or can this be done with a change on software/firmware level?

Anyway, I'm happy to have found this site. When I'll need a new router, the WNR3500L seems like THE way to go.

Great,

regards,

Martin

Channel Selection not applying.

Did a quick search but nothing came up.

In my wireless configuration, I can't seem to change/apply the wireless channel. I set it to auto, click apply, selects a channel automatically. However when I want to manually select channel 11, click apply and it always default back to channel 6 (one of the worst ones)

Anyone else seen this before? I'm fine with leaving it auto but it doesn't always select channel 11.

Vci, Vpi?

Hi, I've got tomato on my WNR3500L (ver 1) and I'm trying to make my modem (EQ-660R) bridge to the router.  When getting the info from my ISP they told me that I need to set up my router using PPPoE adding vci, vpi, and setting it to LLC.  How do I do this within tomato? I've setup the modem as bridged, and I set up the PPPoE with my login and pass, but I can't seem to find the vci, vpi, and LLC.  Does anybody know where this goes on the router?

Thanks!

How ti insall additional packages in WNR3500Lv2 (Tomato)

I've just installed tomato by shibby on my WNR3500lv2 and would like to install some additional packages. How can I add additional repos? Do I need to connect a USB drive to the router (I've already attached a printer to the router) or is there enough space in the router memory? Will privoxy run on this router with tomato?
