I have downloaded and installed this firmware... It seems to be doing what a router is supposed to do for me...
However, being new to this world and new the linux based machines I get lost quickly when attempting to do new things here.. I've been able to set up some networking rules to block ports and IPs using the CLI and I've configured some items from the LuCI interface but I can't seem to install packages either from LuCI or from the CLI.
I basically get the same errors (this one is from LuCI)
Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_adjustment/12.09.1/ipq806x/generic....
I have verified that this path does not exist starting at the 12.09.1 folder and none of the 12.09 folders that do exist contain a child folder of ipq806x.
Is there an alternative way/source/method/etc of installing packages on device?
Specifically I was looking to install some port mirroring tools to monitor some traffic usage of my children... sites visted and such. Basically, I guess, something along the lines of snort??
So, is the package thing something we can work around or do have to wait for "fix" on the pack path?
Pardon my ignorance in this area.
I have been running the R7500 V2 on stock firmware for a week, and learned of a bug in WMM QOS implementation that causes random disconnects of my wireless cameras. It occurs with the last 2 iterations of firmware. Others on the internet are reporting similar problems with other devices, such as phones and tablets. Will this new firmware solve that problem? Also, is there a revert to factory firmware option if the subject firmware has issues? I have OpenWRT on another brand router that is working great, and hope to have the same experience with the R7500 V2 router.TIA
satnav4, I just installed the OpenWRT FW last night and have been testing it. With WMM off on the 2.4ghz network and WMM on for the 5ghz network, things seem to have stabilized as far as my Foscam previously dropping out with the stock Netgear FW and WMM being on. The only 'downside' I've noticed is that the 5ghz speeds don't seem to be as fully optimal as they were with the stock FW. I'll probably try turning WMM off on the 5ghz network just to see what happens. WMM doesn't seem to make a huge difference as far as throughput is concerned though with the OpenWRT FW. Then again, I haven't played around with it too much to know either.
As far as reverting back to the stock FW, Tathagata says that he has reverted back and forth between stock and OpenWRT FW multiple times without issue.
Have been having major problems with the firmware. As of late, it seems my downloads are 'broken' - not sure why this is happening but plugged straight into the cable modem I can download anything of significant size (like 10mb+) and not have hte download immediately fail or be interrupted. But with the router, whether I'm connected via wifi or wired I cannot download anything. I've factory reset the firmware and hard reset to no avail. And I'm also unable to revert the firmware back to 1.0.0.28.
Anyone have a clue as to what I can do to recover?
Hi
Did anyone try the patch that should add the bleeding-edge on R7500v2?
Look here
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/601351/
Seems like a great work, but the AA version above does not approve the image generated with this patch, any ideas?
Working!
Apply the two patces by Alexis Green on OpenWRT and you are good to go
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/op … tter=68617
Bottom line: OpenWRT bleeding-edge with active wifi (both 2.4G and 5G chips) on R7500v2!
Many thanks to Alexis Green on this great work.
So RK, you are saying your R7500v2 is working and stable with the Tathagata firmware and the 2 patches by Alexis Green? Is there a way to revert to Netgear firmware? What about some of the reported problems above, i.e. downloading, wmm etc...?
I'm also getting the same erroe when I try to update lists button any help?
e_adjustment/12.09.1/ipq806x/generic/packages/Packages.gz, wget returned 1.
