Guide for Jtag-Cable and acces to wgr614v8
Hello,
today i had enough time to write a tut. for you so here it is.
Tjtag a wgr614v8 (and building a Jtag cable)
what you need :
- Some Cable
- 5x 100 Ohm Resistors
- 1x DB25 plug
- Soldering iron and knowledge
so we can begin.
first solder the resistor and cables like in the picture:
here is the pinout:
then take the last resistor and connect pin 1 from jtag to pin 1 from tjtag with this resistor.
so if you got this you are ready to jtag it.
if you have questions (how to tjtag etc) just ask me :)
actually i`m not successfull debricking my router :(
next weekend i`ll try again

Copyright is at me
if you want to post it in other forums please ask me
thanks
So, have you tried this with a JTAG program?
Did it work, were you able to scan the onboard flash?
I ask because I completely bricked one of my routers a while ago, and I'd like to rescue it.

I've mostly built a buffered JTAG parallel port adapter, but this one is much easier.
I'm very interested in building one off your plans if you verify that it works.
Thanks!

not yet :(
but if you need something fpr jtag i ahve the files to recover
i am going to sleep now
good night :)

hi all,
I have also prepared a JTAG cable and have tested with JTAG software avlbl at :
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/down.php?path=downloads%2Fothers%2Ftornad...
It works fine . I proceeded in the way specified by dominic but you also need to connect Vcc of your serial with Vcc of JTAG header to get it working ....
sorry i have edited it :D

where is the 5th resistor
and what is X mark
where did you put 5th resistor
and what is X mark
Why would u use a fifth resistor .... Four will do as shown in the above figure ... may be by mistake it has been written in the above guide that 5 resistors are needed ... I have prepared the cable with 4 resistors and it works great ..
The X mark just indicates that instead of keeping pins 2,4,6,8,10 and 12 together we just need to keep 2,4,6,8 and 10 together ....
pin 12 shud be left unused ...

If you still need any info let me know ....
it is needed here: " then take the last resistor and connect pin 1 from jtag to pin 1 from tjtag with this resistor. "

hi domi..
I have used only four resistors in my cable ... though I have used a 100 ohm resistor to connect serial pin with JTAG header ....
I have tested n used this setup too ...
Could u plz clarify me regarding ur usage of 5th resistor ..
oh well
in my "fall" dont know what it is in english
i needed the 5th one because of bad connection :S sometimes there where errors ....
dont know if it must be ;)

HI Guys, and thanks Domi for sharing this whit us.
Has anybody succeeded with this operation by now?
I bricked my WGR-614v8 by uploading the wrong firmware.. actually I was experimenting :D
Now it's TOTALLY bricked and all I can see is ARP broadcast from the device.
1. Some Cable
2. 5x 100 Ohm Resistors
3. 1x DB25 plug
4. Soldering iron and knowledge
Do I need really 5 or 4 resistors?
