WRT54G V8.2 Serial port/console?

In a Linksys WRT54G V8.2 (CDFJ-), there is a region on the circuitboard, not far from the JTAG header location, with 5 in-line holes labeled JP1.  Questions?:

1. Can anyone advise if that's a serial port, similar to that provided in the 6 in-line contacts serial port location of the Netgear 614V8?

2. If it is a serial port, are the ground/transmit/receive pin assignments known? and also if so, are the signal/voltage levels right for a 3.3 volt serial/USB adapter such as functions with my Netgear 614V8?

3. Lastly, if it's a serial port, does the dd-wrt/vxworkskiller  firmware write to that serial port as its console during booting, such as one sees happen in the Netgear 614V8?

4. If all the above is unknown, might anyone provide me some initial guidance in the non-destructive "groping" that I'm feeling drawn to?

5. If I'm in the wrong furum, might someone politely steer me right?

Thanks much

Apologies.

Apologies.
If the forum is Netgear-specific, it would be good to remove this post/thread. The title "MyOpenRouter" and wording like "Open Source Wireless Initiatives Community" on these web pages does not communicate the Netgear aim, and this thread's title, showing on the opening page, confuses that goal rather more. It's also easy to land on these web pages (generally informative and rewarding for a seeker) via Google queries that don't mention Netgear and be further unaware.
Cheers, and thanks for the redirection/insight.
