No internet connection with dd wrt firmware

Hi there,

I have a linksys wag354 modem router which works perfectly well (dsl).

IP address is 192.168.1.150

I can access  the internet via wifi and ethernet connections.

I bought the NETGEAR 3500L router and did the 30-30-30 operation, then installed dd wrt firmware.

Thereafter I connect the Netgear router to the linksys modem-router.

 ip address set as 192.168.1.1

Netgear WNR 3500v2/U/L

DD-WRTv24 sp2 (12/07/09) mini build 13401M NEWD 2 k2.6eko

When I try to go on the internet, no connexion is available nor by wifi nor by ethernet.

What is the issue?

Many thanks for your help,

Tony

When you go to Status > Wan

When you go to Status > Wan does it show a WAN address?
http://192.168.1.1/Status_Internet.asp

And does you basic setup page show Wan Connection type as automatic?

Hi Brandon, thank you for your support.

In, STATUS, I get the following for:

ROUTER

-----------

WAN DOMAIN NAME : domain_not_set.invalid

WAN

 ---------

Connection type is set as "Automatic Configuration DHCP"

In Setup, clicking on "Basic Setup"

WAN Connection Type is "Automatic Configuration DHCP"

STP: Disable

On top of the screen, below firmware, in small white letters, there is the WAN IP 192.168.1.66

Hoping this information is useful, receive my kind regards,

Antoine

It should not be saying 192

It should not be saying 192.168.1.66 that is a LAN address.
You using a cable modem? Check and make sure the ethernet cable is plugged into the correct port in the router and modem.

Then power off/on the modem and see if that helps.

Hi,

Hi,

My internet access is DSL.

I use the linksys modem router Wag354g and it works perfectly.

I have changed IP address to 192.168.2.1

The connection is PPPoA

DHCP is activated, start address is 192.168.2.64

****
When I go to 192.168.1.1, I access the DDR-WRT menu of the Netgear Router

STATUS => ROUTER TAG shows:
----------------------------
WAN Domain Name: domain_not_set.invalid

STATUS => WAN TAG shows:
--------------------------

Connection type: Automatic DHCP
IP address: 192.168.2.65
Gateway: 192.168.2.1

On top of the screen, below firmware, in small white letters, the WAN IP shows now 192.168.2.65

When I select the Linksys Modem-Router as wifi connection, internet works

However, when I select Netgear Wireless Router network, no internet connection is available...

I re-started both (Linksys modem-router and Netgear router) but there is still no internet connection via Netgear Router.

PS: Netgear Router is connected to linksys modem router via ethernet cable.

Linksys Ethernet port goes to Netgear Internet (Yellow) port

As you can see, I have changed the IP address of Linksys to 192.168.2.1 and Ip address of Netgear to 192.168.1.1 but the issue is still existing...

Thanks for your support

I doublechecked above

I doublechecked above configuration and now the Internet connection works well with the Netgear router (wireless and ethernet).

Good step!

However, I cannot configure openvpn with this firmware. Is there an easy way to install a ddr-wrt version which supports openvpn?

Thanks,

Tony

Actually I went on the dd-wrt

Actually I went on the dd-wrt.com website

Typing Netgear wnr3500L, I am getting several possibilties:

Mega, Mini, openvpn, standard, voip, usb, hotspot, ...

Which one is the most complete ( I need to use Openvpn and I have a voip phone as well)

Thanks

See here for a comparison

See here for a comparison:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/What_is_DD-WRT%3F#File_Versions

The "big" oder "mega" builds should have mostly all options.
