Hi,
I have a wnr3500l. I can not connect to it more than 130mbps. I've tries 3 different wireless N adapters (2 Atheros and 1 Dlink DWA-140). Dlink and one atheros worked at 130mbps and another atheros worked at 65mbps.
How can i connect at full 300mbps?
This is because you have not configured your router correctly. 802.11n ist able to transfer 150Mbps per stream. If you configured your wireless to allow operation in mixed mode, than there is only one stream for 802.11n left, thus if you want to get 300Mbps you have to set Wireless Network Mode to "N only" + "Channel width to 40Mhz"
Thanx for the reply.
What about other 802.11g devices like my psp or mobile phone If I set the router to 802.11N only? Is there a way to use N & G devices simultaneously at their maximum speed?
In N only mode your g devices cannot connect. If you need mixed mode than the max transferrate will be 54Mbps for g and 150Mbps for n devices. Because some of the antennas will be used for g transfers and some for n, therefore you cannot serve multiple n streams which are needed for full 300Mbps.
I do not get this to work with Tomato. I have set both "N only" and the channel width to 40Mhz, but my laptop still reports it's connected with 150Mbps, and the transfer speeds confirm this as well. Any ideas?
What wireless card do you use?
You are using a wnr3500l router, right?
Thanks so much for your help,
I've used 3 different wlan 802.11N cards.
By the way my problem solved using Netgear support.
They told me to set wireless channel to 1,6 or 11. I set it to 6 and now my laptop connects at 300mbps.
I don't know if its for real or not. But at least it shows 300mbps
I have an Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter, and a WNR3500L with tomato on it! Tried channels 1, 6 and 11, it still only connects with 150Mbps. Was that really all you did to make it work Ali?
About the channels, is it a good idea to set it to a channel that other APs in the vicinity does not use, to avoid interference? Also, does 300Mbps require Ipv6 to be enabled?
I would really like to get this problem fixed to increase my wireless transfer speeds. Would really be nice when using files on my NAS.
Hi Klas-Goran, the AR9285 only supports 1-stream, see:
http://www.atheros.com/pt/AR9285.htm
Therefore the max speed for this card is only 150Mbps
Thank you Kong, that explains it. Too bad.
Hi friends,
My wlan adpater is Atheros AR5B93, and its connected at 300Mbps.
But I dont know the actual connection speed.
