Auto restart after power outage?

Hello,

Before committing to buying the Netgear WNR3500L, I wish to know if it would automatically restart after a power outage of if it needs to be manually restarted? Im asking this cause my router will be installed in a hard to reach location.

If it does not auto-start, does any of the available firmwares allow this feature to be activated?

Thank you. If thats the case, after a power outage, it means I will have to crawl to my attic to manually press the switch on the router to restart it? Anyone who owns that router can make this simple test? : Disconnect the AC power supply (the power brick), then after 15 seconds, reconnect it to see if the router with start automatically or not...?

Hi!

Hi!

Just had a powercut yesterday, but there were no issue with the restart.
As the electicity came back, the router restarted, and my laptop could connect to the Wifi.
I am still using build 13309 of DD-WRT firmware.

Cheers!

Hi Kong.

Hi Kong.
My linksys WAG54GX2 did exactly that and it was driving me crazy!!!
I contacted Linksys support and they confirmed that it needed to be manually restarted each time there was a power cut... No firmware could fix this problem... Tough luck for me.
Thats why I want to make sure the WNR3500L wouldnt have the same flaw before ordering it.

Cheers.

Ah the WAG54GX2 with the

Ah the WAG54GX2 with the little power button on the front. I had one of these a few years ago, actually I don't recall if I needed to press the power button after connecting it to a power outlet.

But it is rather unusual, that wlan routers have a power push button. They rather have a power switch. That's the case for all netgear devices I used at home/work
