Hi there !
Yesterday, I tried to install a dd-wrt firmware but after the update, my router didnt start as usual, the power led stays amber/orange (not blinking). I tried to telnet the router but i couldnt (host connection impossible, that sort of thing). A reset and even a 30:30:30 reset does nothing (led isnt changing at all, it stays amber).
So I started using a Linux live cd to tftp the stock firmware just at the boot with this guide (http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/13702/Recover-Your-Bricked-NETGEAR-W...), but it always says "transfer timed out" (my router could be pinged anyway). I don't know if I'm in a pretty bad situation or not but I'm starting to worry. Is the serial cable debrick way the only one effective ?
Thanks !
Did you set a static IP on the PC? Try 192.168.1.9, gateway 192.168.1.1
Yes, I was on a static ip with the right gateway.
It's strange that you can ping it but not tftp due to timeout error. Can you ping it continuously or is it only for a short time? If the latter, maybe correct timing of the tftp command is crucial.
I can see two ping commands before the router is not responding. I tried several times, flooding the tftp cmd even before the pings appear, to be sure :/
I'll give another try later...
If you see only two pings, then tftpd has not been started, there are two ways to fix it short pin method or serial connection:
Press Reset Button, Power on. Wait about 30s, release Reset Button, once you receive the first ping short pins, now ping should continue.

Ok guys, so I bought a serial cable before noticing that my router does not have a serial port. So what can I do ? :/
