300 mbits/s?

I'm running Tomato on a WNR3500L and I am unable to connect at more than 144 mbits (even if I go right next to the router). I've configured it to run with 40 mhtz channel width and WPA2 Personal AES for security. I'm trying to connect with a Macbook Air (new type that was just launched). I very briefly tried with DD-WRT and the original firmware and I did not have any more luck with those.

Any ideas?

Is the wireless network mode

Is the wireless network mode set to N only? I've heard that if it's set to Auto or Mixed you will only get 144. The network has to be N exclusive in order to get 300

Great. I tried that and now

Great. I tried that and now the status page reports 300 mbits/s until I actually establish a wifi connection. At that point the connection drops back to the 130 - 144 range again. I also tried to upgrade to the new version (beta 53) yesterday and that seemed to reduce throughput... I'll keep playing with it. Thanks for the insight.
