Connecting WNR3500 to an ASDSL modem?

Hi

How would I connect a WNR3500L to an ADSL modem? I'm using the Netgear DG834 wired modem

The modem is working fine on 192.168.0.1. I want to connect the WNR3500L running Tomato to it so that the WNR3500 filters all Internet traffic through the QoS.

Best regards

Andre

Disable the router functions

Disable the router functions setting it to pass through, so you just use the modem mode. All the other stuff is done with your new router.

I have done this with a

I have done this with a different kind of modem (TP-LINK 8816). I first put the modem into bridge mode. Then connected the WNR3500L to the modem and  in the tomato basic network page I selected PPPoE and entered the details for username and password there. I used this link

http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/adsl_modem_router_bridge_mode

as an aid to setting up bridge mode.

Hi All

Hi All

Thanks for the posts. The new DG834 does not seem to have the PPPoE external dialer like the old ADSL modems.

I then setup the DG834 as normal so it was connected to the Internet with it's own PPPoE dialer. I then connected the WNR3500L to the DG834. I used the cable from the WAN port of the WNR3500L to any LAN port of the DG834.

On the WNR3500L I chose DHCP option for the connection type under Basic. Then everything was connected and working. Now all traffic is routed through the WNR3500L, QoS is maintained and VoIP traffic is given priority.

Best regards

Andre
