3500L and Tomato , drops wireless connection

Hi,

This is so annoying..

I bought my 3500L router just after xmas to improve my speed in my home network.

My last router worked perfect , but it was not an N router.

I have these devices attached to the both routers:

Laptop wireless win7 , MediaCenter PC wired win7 . PS3 wireless , 2xHTC desire HD wireless , Tvix N1 wired , LG NAS wired.

All of the devices worked perfect with my old router , but now , with the new one it works like shit. My Laptop , and ONLY the laptop drops it´s wifi connection every 10 mins (sometimes 1 min , sometime 1 hour.) then i have to reconnect to the network and it all works again.. for a few minutes.

First i thought  it was some problems with the hardware so i contacted netgear support in march and they got my router swapped. (i ran original firmware on this router)

Today i recived the new router , i decided to install tomato , so i did.. but i have exactly the same problem again.. with the new swapped device.

So i guess it is something else that is wrong.. The time that i had my router on service i used my old router , and it worked perfect. So i guess it´s not something wrong with the other devices?

Please can someone help me? is it some settings to do to avoid this? on the router? my wireless card in laptop?

sorry for my bad english..

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the information

Thank you for the information!
I will change the fw later tonight and hopefully it works better :)
another question regarding security is , as for now i only use mac filtering and no pass key or what so ever (my neighbourhood is very very small , so the chance of someone else will use my network is 0% :) )
Is it better if i use WPA2? thinking about my problems with disconnect and so on.

Also , i do not mind use another fw , do you recommend me to use Kong DD-WRT instead?

oooohhhh!

oooohhhh!

Just updated the fw on the router , this time a also use WPA2 instead of mac filtering.. same problem.. took me about 3 mins , then no internet connection and i had to reconnect to the router.
This is really frustrating!
I also used channel 11 (no other network close to me uses that channel)
Any other ideas?

Best Regards
Patrik

Hi again.

Hi again.
1 month later , the router is still crappy...
Yesterday , the router dropped connection every 2 minutes for an whole hour.. IRRITATING!
I restarted the router several times , but the router continued to drop my connection.

Does anyone have another information regarding this.. Otherwise i will throw the router in the wall and go back to my old router , that is slow , but works perfect..
