wnr3500l odd problem

i Made a previous thread about helpign me save it my router, from what i thought was a bad flash of tomato.

monday after messing around and tryign to flash dd-wrt through tftp i realized all lights were finally turing green. i never actually succeeded in flashign dd-wrt. i pinged the router andwas gettign a tttl of 128.

when i plugged in the router i relaized that even though it allowed me to connect to the signal it was telling me that i did nto have a valid ip adress. the ip it was giving was 169.225.54.13 if i remember correctly.

i managed to get into the actual router by setting my ip adrres to 192.168.1.2 this gave me acces to the tomato interface, any other way would nto work, also this settign did not give me acces to the internet. oncei i managed to get in i decided to install the original netgear firmware. it installed and i got amessage on screen sayign flash was succesfull.

when i connected to the wireless signal it was now giving off i had to do the usual thign of fillign in the pin on the label to set up router. unless im mistaken that meant that firmware was installed succesfully.

once iconnected igot the same problem as before no intenernet acces. whther though wireless or pugging intoone of the lan ports on the router. onyl difference is that when i trouble shoot it not it does nto tell me that i do nto have a valid ip adress. it can nto detect any error, when lookign at the status the network is never identified. it takes abotu 2 to 3 minutes identifyign the network then just gives up and leaves it as unidentified network.

i tried setting my ip adress again o 192.168.1.2 to see if i coudl get acces into the router but no luck this time. besides that the router works fine, all the lights are green and ttl is still 128.

could some one please tell me what is goign on? and hwo to fix it

use the dd-wrt link to download tftp2.exe look for tftp2 on webpage site click on it to download

if using windows xp go to you network settings right click on LAN connection and click properties then click ipv4 and click properties tab change ip adress to 192.168.1.10

before you open tftp2.exe pogram go to netgear site and download latest firmware link is here for latest firmware http://support.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18853 this should bing you to download link select north american version and download should start a registration screen may come up just click continue without registering and download for the firmware will start once download has completed open tftp2.exe and there should be a square box with three dots on it click on it to browse you computer for the firmware you just downloaded and select it to upload it to your router no password is needed for tftp2.exe if all goes well your router should upload the firmware to it and reboot once the router has rebooted find the reset pin on the back of the router should be a red circle around where it is at put a paper clip in it to reset it or any thing you can find to put in that will fit to push in the reset button hold in the reset button for at least 10 to 20 seconds 30 seconds may be needed though to fully reset router so you can login to the setup page the login windows should come up in your browser once you type in 192.168.1.1 in the adress bar of your web browser it will ask for information to logon the username is admin and the password is password

gonan do this after lass today, allthough i already did try tftp2 as i said before and it never installedright, i installed netgear software by going into tomato (which i could only do by settting ip to 192.168.1.2)  and upfgradaing it into netgear software. when i upgraded it said install was succesfull.

from what i understand the firmware is in there correctly. or am i wrong?

Has the router booted up with the netgear firmware cause if it did you can try flashing dd-wrt or tomato back on it yes the firmware should be on there correctly after it has flashed from tomato did you do a 30-30-30 reset after flashing it to be able to log into the router

sorry about no reply been really busy with some other stuff that demanded my attention.  idid a 30-30-30 reset and nothing,as i said in previous posts the firmware seems to be there due to it askign me to set up password etc, but i cannot acces internet or the router itself.
