Please Help the Noob - Tomato Confusion.

Can you guys tell me what the difference between these Toastman Tomatoes are:

tomato-K26USB-1.28.7486.4MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-Ext.trx
tomato-K26USB-1.28.7486.4MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-VPN.trx
tomato-K26USB-1.28.7486.4MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-VPN+NO CAT.trx

Thanks.

And can I use them with my WNR3500L? Which one would be best with most or all features?

My refurbished WNR3500L is

My refurbished WNR3500L is supposed to arrive from Amazon this week. I hope it's the WNR3500L v.1 and not WNR3500L v.2 since Tomato doesn't work with the latter. If it's the former, then I'm really looking forward to installing "Toastman's Tomato Firmware for WNR3500L w/ USB (Ext) 1.28.7476 K26" That's the latest, correct? I loved Tomato on my classic WRT54GS much more than DD-WRT.

So my noob question is, will I loose any functionality from the stock firmware if I install Tomato ext? The stock firmware seems to have all the basics covered like basic QOS, MAC filtering, USB storage, bandwidth metering, etc so I was just wondering.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

You shouldn't lose any

You shouldn't lose any functionality but you will gain more options. The nice thing is that if you can give it a try and if you don't like it you can try another firmware or go back to stock.

Loving it so far. Using "tomato-K26USB-1.28.7493MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-Ext.trx" and so far everything seems peachy.

@Brandon C, thanks for the reply. That's good to hear, I was concerned with loosing functions, especially NTFS via USB.

My WNR3500L arrives tomorrow and I already have "dd-wrt.v24-14896_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-WNR3500L.chk" and "tomato-K26USB-1.28.7493MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-Ext.trx" ready to go. I cannot wait! The latter is the correct firmware, yes?
