Problem with accessing 5GHz band (R6300v2 on Kong 24760M)

I just switched from the original netgear firmware to Kong's 24760M, and I ran into a problem with the 5GHz band.

After the flash, the SSID of 5GHz band (wl1) is not showing up in my devices' wifi list (laptop, phone, ipad). I tried rebooting the router, and then I can see the SSID for both wl0 and wl1, but none of the devices can connect to the wl1.

I can connect to the 2.4GHz band (wl0) with no problem.

Anyone out there see similar problem? Thanks.

Also, I've tried to flash back to netgear's firmware, but failed. I saw Kong's reply in another email saying that it might be a cache problem. I will clean the cache later.

Common problems:

-your client does not support higher channels on 5G
-you did not use WPA2-AES which is required for some clients to be able to connect

24760 does not have the buffer problem, if the router accepts the firmware and reboots and still shows dd-wrt then you uploaded the wrong firmware, there are different 6300V2 variants and they require the correct netgear firmware unfortunately you can't really tell on the netgear download site which one you need.
If it is an issue with buffer or browser cache, then you will received "upgrade failed" message.

I tried to set a fixed lower channel. But the problem is still there. Both wl0 and wl1 are using WPA2 Personal - AES.

Here is a screenshot of my wireless setting.

I can confirm this behavior

I can confirm this behavior on the 6300v2. unable to connect on 5Ghz. tried with ipad and nexus5.in a quick test with different firmwares it startet with 24500. all newer builds not working for me. 2435newd seems to work fine (on 5Ghz). also if i change channels on 24500 and up i have to reboot the router to make changes happen and make 5ghz ssid visible again.

You are right, just check, this is indeed a bug in the later builds on the R6300V2, will update the build today or tomorrow.

Note:The myopenrouter download is not having this bug, only the latest builds on my ftp.

Any recommendation for recent

Any recommendation for recent builds for the R6300v2 that is stable enough (run for weeks without reboot). Mine was rebooting a couple of times a day and I reverted back to NetGear firmware and it's been fine. However, I want the features of DD-WRT or OPENWRT.

Anybody knows if 802.11f is supported by the DD-WRT build and if so, how to enable it ? Thanks.

Weird, I'm having this issue

Weird, I'm having this issue as well, just uploaded the version available here.
Router Model Netgear R6300V2
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/28/14) std - build build r24170

The UI has the correct settings, but the driver doesn't seem to be accepting them, almost like it's stuck in "safe mode" at single-wide channel 36.

I'll try to see if I can get into the latest builds, but I forgot the actual location... (Google to the rescue!).

Alright, upgraded to 25100M

Router Model Netgear R6300V2
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/08/14) kongac - build 25100M

Now it seems that settings modification is sticking (more or less), but they're not matching the UI still.

EG I have in the settings, Wireless Channel 144 (Because, why not?), Extension Channel upper upper, width 80.

On my wifi scanner on Android it's registering as on channel 165.

Said android connects at 86M/86M on 5 Ghz, and 52M/13M on 2.4Ghz, so it seems like it might be working a bit better!

5GHZ is useless. You can

5GHZ is useless. I can connect but when I try to run

~$ sudo apt-get update

it get's stuck on waiting for headers. Also, iwconfig shows speeds of like 80 something when they should be at least 400 for my adapter. Going back to stock firmware to properly utilize AC.
