Netgear R7000 VPN is not Assigning IPv4 address to Open VPN Client

I am new to Open VPN Configuration on Netgear R7000. I have followed all the neccessary steps to connect. My TAP Windows Adapter is connected anyway but it gives an Auto Configuration IP Address of 169.254.141.39 and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. My Router LAN IP Address is 192.168.10.1 and I am using a Static IP address.

My problem is that I know the TAP IP Address should not be 169.254.141.39. Something is wrong somewhere and I need help. The VPN Client is not able to communicate with the other computers on the network.

What should I do?

Does the Netgear assign DHCP Address to VPN Clients or am supposed to enter it manully?

Looks like Netgear knows this

Looks like Netgear knows this problem but are simply not offering any solution to it. This problem must be addressed as soon as possible or else the VPN service is worthless!

I have seen the problem! And

I have seen the problem! And now I have solved it.

I installed the Client on 32 bit Windows operating systems and it worked perfectly but 64 bit systems failed to assign the IPv4 IP Addresses.

So I realize that the issue was about installing the 64 bit Open VPN on 64 bit Operating System.

So what I did was to uninstall Open VPN Clients from Windows 64 bits and delete the OPen VPN file from Program Files(64 bit side).

You may need to restart your computer to be able to delete it.

Now Install the 32 bit version of the Open VPN Client on the 64 bit operating system.

Make sure it is installed at C:\ Program Files (x86)

Then reconnect and see your connection working perfectly

NOTE: NETGEAR AND OPEN VPN have to work on 64 bit operating system issue.

I did ask you explained.  However, I am still having the same IP issues as you stated in your original post. By any chance, the network that your are connecting to your VPN network, is the lan ip address setup differently other then 192.168.XX.XX?

DottedQuad please which type

DottedQuad please which type of Windows operating system are you using? Is it 64 bit or 32 bit?

If it is 64 bit I can help you out.

Please can you download AMMYY ADMIN? It is a Remote desktop VIEWER software. I would just look at your configuration and help you out. I just helped someone through.

I would just check what you are doing. Please download the software and get back to me

The LAN IP address SCHEME of

The LAN IP address SCHEME of where you are using to connect to the remote nighthawk router should be different from the LAN IP SCHEME OF THE Router.

So if the router's LAN IP Address is 192.168.1.5, your current LAN IP Address should not be 192.168.1.6 it can be 192.168.0.5 or 192.168.2.5 or any other. That would help you to connect.
